Southern Miss is really good at football and basketball, not sure what you guys are talking about lol. 4/20 is over.. Zippy you are right, Southern Miss was a bad on to put in the post, but UTEP has been one of the worst for years. Taking a quick look at their conference, there are several offenders of pure bad football for years. Conference USA is looking more and more like a bad idea -------------------- When in doubt, blame everything on a directional michigan school!

Usually a top 10? program I believe, if not sometimes better. Calipari did get them to the National Championship, just to get it vacated by the NCAA. -------------------- It's okay....we'll be better next year

That's why it's puzzling. The Big East is a basketball conference that has football BCS AQ status (deserved or not) that they desperately do not want to lose, so they invite Memphis? How does that help with their football concerns? -------------------- Bitter member of the venomous minority.

The Big East is a basketball conference that has football BCS AQ status (deserved or not) I don't know if the deserve it or not, but if the ACC is a BCS AQ, then so is the Big East. Maybe not with the exit of WVU, Pitt and Syracuse, but up until this coming year there were better than the ACC. VA Tech (former Big East) has won the ACC football championship four of eight times since joining the league. It isn't a very good football conference and VA Tech is not the program it was eight years ago. Some say WVU was not let in the ACC because of academics. That's nonsense. WVU (Big East) wasn't allowed in the ACC because realignment is happening for football reasons and WVU would immediately be the best team in the ACC. The other schools don't want them in because they don't want a repeat of VA Tech. They made Clemson look like a I-AA team last bowl season when they beat them 70-33. Imagine what their offense would do on a weekly basis against the teams that don't win the conference. -------------------- "...you want it to be one way. But it's the other way." --Marlo Stanfield, The Wire

You aren't going to catch me arguing on behalf of the ACC. When they split the conference in two they had sugar plum visions of an annual high powered FSU/Miami ACC Championship game to give the new look league some real credibility. Hasn't happened.

It's the tv money, stupid.
SDSU moving 'full steam' to Big East by Brent Schrotenboer April 23, 2012 Rumors have circulated for months that San Diego State might not go through with its plan to join the Big East conference next year in football. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/apr/23...steam-big-east/ Even if the Big East loses its BCS status, SDSU is making the move to the Big East primarily for TV money. SDSU expects to increase its TV revenue from about $1.5 million annually in the Mountain West to at least $6.4 million in the Big East. There is some risk involved because SDSU is basing that Big East TV revenue on an estimate. Big East will begin negotiating a new TV contract in September, and the exact figure won’t be known until a new agreement is reached. A new Big East TV contract still is expected to pay much more than any TV contract with a proposed Mountain West combination with Conference USA. That’s because the Big East will have significantly bigger TV markets, including its East Coast base and new members from San Diego, Houston and Dallas. |

Now that is a desperate move by both sides. If it is all about the Television market, I decided to go hear and take a look for myself Top T.V markets If it is being based just on that, San Deigo is way down the list and a bad, bad move -------------------- When in doubt, blame everything on a directional michigan school!

If anybody needed any more evidence that a school's TV market is the key ingredient to future expansion, it looks like 2012 FBS newcomer UTSA will be joining C-USA/"the alliance" after their one and only season in the WAC.

UTSA? If they are taking schools like this, then Akron should be on the list to bolt. Unless, they want to stay. If this is the case, it spells total doom. -------------------- When in doubt, blame everything on a directional michigan school!

CUSA is adding teams because the alliance isn't going to happen. The Fedd speaks the truth (for now anyway). UNT, FIU and La Tech are also possible candidates for C-USA. If the alliance doesn't happen anytime soon, would C-USA be interested in UA, UT, or UB? -------------------- "Build it, and they can't tear it down.......not for a good 15-20 years anyway."
