A draw was to be expected at some point early this season. Like Porter said before the season, the team may not be ready in the beginning, but come tourney time, they will be in a good position to win it all. The goal is still nothing less than winning the national championship.

Good comments by Porter. Unfortunely, many teams, especially mediocre ones, continue to employ thug tactics. Play thru it and try to get the job done.

where were the referees?
For some reason, in America, referees tend to allow the physical play distroy the beauty of the game. I have read that all the European leagues have been cracking own on this. It is about time that MLS and the NCAA crack down on this as well or the beautiful game has no chance to be successful in the US. Sidenote: need to punish diving as well |

When they ain't calling it, meet thugery with greater thugery! The beautiful game be damned! "He sends one of yours to the hospital; you send one of his to the morgue." Frankly, it is very difficult for a predominantly finesse team to win a championship, regardless of the sport. We sorta pulled it off last year. It will not likely happen that way again. Bitching about officials is exceedingly weak. |

It's opions such as yours that will distroy the game in America |

It's opions such as yours that will distroy the game in America I sincerely welcome your two cents, taxguy. In fact, I love it. No insult is intended. I merely want to reinforce the fact that physicality, even brutality, is and always has been a part of this sport. Football is a very old sport, older even than our Baseball. Despite efforts to “clean it up,” there are intrinsic elements to the game that will never leave, unwritten codes, if you will. Americans are historically soft in this regard. I want Our Zips to realize this and be able to prevent less talented squads from taking us from our attractive soccer, and stealing a draw. Fullerton did exactly what I would do facing a superior opponent. In short, I want Our Zips to learn how to win ugly, if need be. Let’s hope they learn from this minor setback. Perhaps the officiating stunk last night. I did not see the game, only listened. But I suspect some of our young boys were not mentally prepared to be bullied about the pitch. At some point, if the ref is not controlling the match, one must take matters into one’s own hands. I suggest that someone from Akron should have earned a yellow, just to send a message. I do not prefer that style of play, but I am intimately aware that it is sometimes exactly what is required. Our Zips are sure to see more of the same this year. You can count on it. What do think Hartwick is going be like? Does anyone out there remember Caleb Porter as a player? That dude was downright nasty. Thanks for the retort. I invite you to have the last word, if you like. |

Just because there are some soft spanish players that "speak for the way football should be played" in camp nou that passess sideways all the time doesnt mean you can't body a guy up |

As someone who was at the game, this was of the latter variety. |

Zips take a 1-0 lead over Cal State Northridge. Northridge are down to ten as their captain CB received two yellows in the first 18 minutes.

I am glad someone on Akron finally stepped up and had a hard tackle. Maybe it will spark the team to be increasingly physical along with there typical play. Who was the "enforcer". Announcer said Brenes but Gametracker said Barson?
