Central better come on strong in the remaining 11 minutes, or it's going to be a bad start to bowl season for the MAC. Chips are down 17-13 to 6-6 FAU from the Sunbelt. I'm not sure if they've recovered from the Ball St. game yet.

24-13 with 9 minutes left. FAU's QB Rusty Smith, despite having IMmobility that rivals Jacq, is looking like an NFL prospect. Does anyone know of any exercizes we can get Jacq to do to improve arm strength? This Smith has a gun, and it really makes up for the lack of mobility.

And BTW, there is NFW Lefevour plays in the NFL IMHO. He is clearly a product of the spread and that's it.

CMU trying to make it interesting. They are down 24-21 with 3:09 left in the game and are now kicking off.

There have definitely been some odd coaching decisions by Butch Jones tonight.

It's over, FAU 24 - CMU 21. Not a good effort from the Chips. Hopefully Northern, Western, Ball St. and Buffalo will play much better.

In the middle of recruiting season, the last thing you want is for teams which are competing for the same recruits to have big wins on national TV. Hoping they get rolled is the best thing for Akron.

Oh, that's right, we'll be leaving this sorry conference soon, therefore its relative standing in the FBS is of no consequence to us rolleyes.gif

LeFevour looks like a little kid out there. I've only seen him a couple times now, once against Sad Sack State and last night. Both times he was NOT impressive, especially under any kind of pressure. I didn't check, but is CMU going to be on UA's schedule in 2009?

Rice is humiliating Western 31-0 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. It looks like it's up to Ball St. and/or Buffalo to defend any vestige of MAC honor that remains for 2008. This makes our last three results look even worse IMHO.

Will the "Team of Destiny" be able to hold on against UConn? UB continues to benefit from big plays in all phases as they race out to a 20-10 1st half lead. The stats look one-sided in favor of UConn (and they're controlling the LOS big time), but the Bulls' propensity for the "Midas Touch" continues.

The pixie dust has worn off for the Bulls, as further MAC humiliation continues. UConn is up 38-20 in the waning moments. It should have been 78-20, but for UConn shooting themselves in the foot. With nothing but a rudderless Ball St squad standing in the way of a likely 0-5 bowl record, the MAC has essentially fumbled the decent momentum that had been gained over the course of the regular season. If the Zips don't perform extremely well in this league next year, there are NO excuses.

Ball St. finishes off a horrendous MAC bowl season by getting blown out by Tulsa 45-13. Hint to the GMAC bowl: don't invite Tulsa to play a MAC opponent if you want a close contest biggrin.gif

It'll be curious to see how the poor finish by Nate Davis in particular affects the Cards next season. Did these last few games make it unlikely that he will come out early? Will the loss of Hoke be a big factor? Will Stan Parrish's BSU stint more closely resemble his years as HC at Marshall (he got the ball rolling for the Herd revival) or at Kansas St (he was the last in the line of remarkably UNsuccessful coaches there before Snyder)?
