sorry for the lack of updates. Akron won 2-1. Pitt's goal came off a mistake in the back from a bad pass. Akron kept Pitt on the defensive the entire game. Possession was at least 75% in favor of Akron. They dominated and had plenty of shots on goal. We missed a penalty kick before the end of the 1st half. For $0 to get in, this is the best bargain in town.

Highlights of the game: Great Akron possession and dominance, Eric Stevenson almost bagging a hat-trick, the return Porter who in my imagination is now wiser and more hardened after coming back from war (I expected him to have a beard and be kind of war veteran-esque), and DeAndre Yedlin's new hair, outdoing the likes of Brek Shea and Juan Swagudelo for craziest mo-hawk. Fun game, but I'm going to need to bundle up more for tomorrow night.

It was cold.
Gallego, now a captain, continues to attempt boneheaded passes out of the back. He is mostly responsible for Pitt's goal with an unnecessarily risky pass up the middle getting intercepted. Gallego is a good player, but THAT needs to be cleaned up. At a young age, I was told that 1/3 of goals come in the run of play, 1/3 comes from set pieces, and 1/3 is the result of defensive turnovers. It seems to me that defensive sloppiness is the easiest of the three to remedy. Yedlin has a crazy Mohawk, but he is still very fast. His runs up the right flank put real pressure on Pitt. Stevenson looks in good form. His finishing seems to have improved. I like him better in the offense than at LB. Trapp looks just as stellar now as he was last season. He almost never makes a poor pass, and he is nearly impossible to dispossess. Quinn looks much more comfortable within the system. Barrett looked lost, subbing in the last 30. |

Thanks for updates and some details. Was the PK shot wide, high , or just blocked by GK?

Eric tried to mix up the GK, but the PK ended up going nearly down the middle, on the ground with the GK having to make a slight move to his right to block it. |
