Sure, Brett McKnight got suspended (and exonerated) this season. Sure we have players break the rules occasionally. Every team has something like that over the course of the season.
But it's getting to the point at a certain school where you're almost surprised if a felony isn't committed by mid-December. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...pended_aft.html |

Well let's see. It's nearly Christmas. The player in question is a starter and second leading scorer. Secondary charges are pending. Everything about this wreaks of no accountability, no responsibility and abuse of others i.e. I'm a D1 athlete so I'm entitled to do whatever I can get away with. Yep. Welcome to K.E.N.T. State University and reformatory. They disgust me.
P.S. You are damn right he'll be back in time for league play. |

Now he earned his scholarship and showed his teammates that he fits right with them.

I just tried to get an update to this story at the Record courier website. I found 2 stories about Can't State basketball players problems with the law. Both of them are locked and you can't read them unless you are a paid subscriber. It appears that the powers at the RC don't want anybody seeing Can't State's dirty laundry. Those articles where the only ones which you need special access to view. What a croc of S#$t.

Hilltopper, didn't you know about the deal Can't and the Record-Courier have?
* Can't annually recruits high-risk basketball players who are likely to get in trouble with the law. * The Record-Courier gets exclusive access to any criminal stories that develop, and requires a paid subscription for anyone who wants to read the stories. * A percentage of all profits from new subscriptions generated by Can't basketball criminal case stories is given to local charities. It's really a great service to the community, and should be supported by all concerned citizens. |

If this kid plays against UA, and the AK-Rowdies do not jingle their car keys along with me whenever he touches the ball, I will cry.
Don't make me cry, Rowdies! I want to hear hundreds of jingling key chains! |

No surprise here, their second leading scorer is charged with felony theft and has a pending sexual assault investigation going against him and the Can't faithful take the "blame the victim" approach.
http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=470684 This is exactly why Can't continues to have problems with this sort of stuff. There is never any accountability over there. There wasn't any accountability when Josh Cribbs had his drug issues, there wasn't any accountability when Singletary was busted driving around Can't over the legal limit and punching other players on the court, and there won't be any accountability here. He will probably sit a game, MAYBE two and be back in plenty of time to have a few games under his belt prior to conference play. Dave Carducci will write another bleeding heart article about how he's really a good kid who just made a poor decision and got caught up with a woman who was looking for her 15 minutes of fame and that he deserves as many chances as necessary for him to get his life straightened out. Then 3 or 4 months from now when his name appears in the police blotter again the story will repeat itself all over. |

Last month three other Can't basketball players were charged with disorderly conduct for their involvement in a big fight at 2 a.m. involving 40 people. And then Geno Ford says those charges are no more serious than speeding tickets. Uh, no Geno. You don't face six months in jail for a speeding ticket. Lots of law abiding people get speeding tickets; not many law abiding people get arrested for being involved in 40-person brawls at 2 a.m. |

That program is a joke to the whole institution of college athletics. |

Second leading scorer....no doubt he will be back in uniform by January 8th. It looks like he won't be playing by the 8th of January. There was a pretrial hearing today and they pushed things back for 3 weeks in order to conduct an investigation. The next hearing date is 1-14-11. He was released on a $10,000 signature bond. |
