Could have just added this to some of the other discussions, but I admit I really wanted to use that title. smile.gif Anyway, now that Groce has moved on, what does it mean for the Zips for next year? I think Groce was a very good coach and even thought they have a lot of talent returning, I think the timing could not have been much better for the Zips. With our loaded roster returning, I can't see how a coaching change will benefit the Bobkittens at all. I can see it potentially causing some problems. Other than Cooper I think we match up better at every position for next year. Lets hope their new coach can wreak a little havoc for us.

Depends on how good a job you think Jeff Boals will do as the HC at ohio.

Also how many people leave the program after feeling burned by Groce.

To me, it shouldn't have mattered (and we should not have been wishing or celebrating his leave) what ohio did. We beat them once this year, should have done it twice, and our team should put this season behind them and know they are bigger and more talented than ohio. We shouldn't even have spent this much time talking about ohio.

Depends a lot on who relaces Groce at OU. If it's Boals, he would have a lot of insight on how to coach OU against the Zips.

Not as much as you might think considering we have changed offensive and defensive schemes.

I really do respect everybody's opinion on this board. BUT, ZIPS PLAYERS, COACHES AND FANS MUST REALIZE THEY HAVE TALENT!!!!! STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT THIS COACH WILL DO TO US OR THIS PLAYER WILL DO TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! START TALKING AND PLANNING ABOUT WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO TO THEM!!!!!!!!

I agree. I haven't gone for this whole 'hoping that Groce moves on so Ohio will struggle' motif. I don't care what they or K.e.nt do. I want us to elevate our program, not necessarily for them to lower theirs. We need to rise up. If we can't beat them, then I wish them the best.

OU is committed to winning basketball. Look at Larry Hunter...the guy had a career record of 204-148 @ OU, was 19-11 in his final season, and they fired him. Basketball expectations are high in Athens.

Their next coach will be very good. Bank on it.

Well said. I could be wrong, but sometimes I feel like I believe in this team to do great things more than they do. We should all feel that way. They are an extremely talented group of players.

I agree. I worry more about our coaching.

Cooper may have his highest draft value right now. It's highly unlikely he will get a chance to perform on the big stage next season as he just did, and memories can be short when it comes to evaluating the performance of college basketball players, i.e. what have you done lately?. It's possible that he could sneak in as a late second-round pick in this season's draft. Cooper would be foolish not to be consulting with his family and advisors about his best course of action after Groce's move.

It's 2012 Dave. Coaches use this new device called "video" and it helps them with their memory.
