Head coach Keith Dambrot, and the University of Akron have scored a verbal commitment from Class of 2011 Lake Forest Academy star Dylan Ennis. Ennis, who transferred into Lake Forest Academy this fall, is one of the top 2011 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Ennis, a 6'0" point guard, is a true floor general who delivers with his strong handle, court instincts and his ability to drop shots with range. Ennis is coming off of a strong run on the travel team circuit with Team Takeover.

Lake Forest Academy head coach Matt Vaughn confirmed the commitment by Ennis to Akron, and noted that the family was really excited, and that they were very comfortable with the coaching staff at Akron.

This coming season, Ennis will team with fast-rising Class of 2012 star Charles Harris and 2010 stars Michael Banczer and Remy N'Diaye on what will be another strong Lake Forest Academy team.

Wow! KD and his staff have been very busy recently, it seems. Between the first practices, sorting out the 2010 recruiting class, and apparently even doing some 2011 recruiting on top of it all.

Close. A review of the official records for that year reveals that you were 2004 in the next to last week of 1984. BUT, in the final 1984 ranking you fell to 2006, being passed by Virgil Gunch, third string point guard for Division V power Pleasant City, and Pearl Smith, a young lady pressed into service for Byesville Consolidated High School after two of the six boys at the school were injured in a metal shop accident.

Not a bad idea to pick up a PG for 2011. McNees will already be graduated (though he is more of a combo guard). Humpty and Ronnie will both be seniors. This will give Ennis a chance to redshirt, then presumably see significant playing time in his RFresh season behind Sullivan.

A quick search on him doesn't reveal a whole lot. Apparently he is originally from Canada and just recently moved to the Illinois area. That is about all I'm able to find right now.

Most likely. A majority of kids will still have an inch or two left to grow when they are Juniors. Either way, if only remains 6'0" he's already taller than all of the true PG's currently on our roster. It would be nice to have a PG in the 6'2"-6'4" range, but we've been playing for years without one. I don't think it is entirely necessary to the success of this team.

Dylan was born in 1991, so he's probably done growing. He's a pure point guard.

Dylan was born in 1991, so he's probably done growing. He's a pure point guard.

I want to check his birth certificate! He looks like he has PLENTY of height upside?

I must admit it's beyond my ability to predict whether or not a high school player has stopped growing. But I'm always entertained to see how far others will stick their necks out on this subject.

OK so it did take me a little time to do this research but I have found a huge upside to Dylan Ennis. Called some Chicago area prep contacts and it appears that Ennis is a legit 6'1 and approx 165 as a Junior. Perhaps the article(s) may have been refferencing some old data. Seems he has a brother that plays at Southern Conneticuit State that is 6'4. This may mean that the kid still has some growing to do. In talking with some Ohio scouting guys his growing is just starting. Sources say they have watched him play in Louisville and West Virginia this past summer and he is a dominate PG with the ability to play the 2 spot. He shoots the lights out and has crazy ball control. He drove his team to victory in both tournaments with his play as well as his on court leadership. Reletively unknown until this summer his recruiting has really expanded and recently blown up with many high major D 1 offers. Seems we are getting a high major guy before everyone in the nation found out about this kid. I am going to keep a close eye on Mr Ennis during this upcomming season through my Chicago guys and monitor his progress. I am excitted hope we will see him Akron soon. Coach KD may have a golden Zipper in this one.

All other things being equal, you'd always prefer taller than shorter when it comes to basketball players. But a 6-0 PG is perfectly fine even at some of the top college programs as long as he's a quality PG who can do it all. If he's 6-1 and still growing, that would be cool.

Well from all verbal connections that I have this kid is the real deal in regards to a true PG. One source in Dayton states that this kid is a true PG with the ability to lead the team on and off the floor. At 6'1 he is a good size for me, a few inches never hurts. His shooting the ball obviously makes up for size lets see if his Junior year tells us anything more, but to me this is what we have been waiting for since Joyce days, perhaps a pro? who knows its all speculation until we see him play in front of the Zipp nation.

While there may be some correlation, it really doesn't matter that much. Point of reference, Mike Bardo's brother is "only" 6'3". Heart matters a lot more then height (even though height helps).
