The samba band is one thing, but what we had today was awful. Every time a chant got started, the band kicked in and drowned out the chant. It's nice that they came out to support the soccer team but I prefer the chanting over a loud drum squad any day.

It's crap. The band should never set foot within the soccer stadium. Every single time they play at a soccer game, the Zips play terribly.

I talked to the band director and he said he saw Porter at the Diamond Deli and Porter asked him to come...I think...or he asked Porter if Porter would like to have the band at the game, to which Porter said yes. Not sure which one it was haha. But really you can list a bunch of external factors on why we lost this game, and it's really easy to point to the band, but they didn't cause the loss.

I think the atmosphere has been on the decline since the weather started to cool down… at least the band is actually showing up and cheering.

Sorry, I would disagree, the pep band ruined a soccer atmosphere, its not basketball or football. 2 or 3 drums is all that's needed, maybe one horn. Chants, singing, drowned out by the pep band. From the grandstands, the band sounds great. I like it. There just needs to be more coordination between the band playing and the chanting.

the band annoyed the hell out of me. itd be one thing if they were off in one of the corners or at least there to complement the cheering, but they overpowered what little chanting we had going on.
idk why but im getting really annoyed by a lot of things with this team and atmosphere this year... -------------------- .13

it seems to me that you guys complain that there is not enough cheering then when the band was asked to attend and help cheer you guys jump on there case....we are all rooting for the same team last I checked.......GO ZIPS!

The band was annoying.
Worse still was the band freaking playing when ever our players were attacking the opponent in the box. Communication is lost. Leading to missed opportunities. Time the racket for when play is not close to them. |
