I remember how disappointed I was when I found out Lolla was leaving, I was just starting to follow Zips soccer in my 3rd year of school, Louisvile's firing of Ken Lolla is a coup. I thought Lolla was the reason the Zips were so good. But now, I'm grateful he departed because Porter was discovered and the Porter era has been the best the Zips have seen in school history.

Since he left, Akron and Louisville have yet to meet. I'm not sure if these teams avoid each other on purpose, but after the final Sunday, both of these teams should start scheduling each other more often in the future. This could create an old coach vs new coach rivalry.

Considering Porter makes more $$$ at Akron than Lolla makes at Louisville, you have to wonder if he ever regrets leaving.

Lolla's Record with the Zips: 160-68-25 .632
Lolla's Record with Louisville: 59-28-16 .522

Akron's Record since he left: 88-12-11 .792

I'd bet he doesn't regret it at all. But I can also figure that when you are put in the situation where you left a place for "greener pastures', and you have to face that old team to win a national championship, there's a WHOLE lot of pressure. But he's done a great job. If I recall, Louisville was not very good at all when he arrived there.

Lets just feel fortunate that our program had a history that allowed us to attract a replacement, and keep growing.

He's going to regret it when Porter and the Zips hoist that trophy up around 6:30 pm tomorrow.

And we should all thank her family for the upgrade to our stadium.

Barb is the standard to which all Zips fans should strive to match and which none of us actually do.

Go Zips!

I like the matchup against Louisville better than the matchup against Michigan. Michigan has two very dangerous scorers in Saad and Meram. Louisville really does not seem to have a "go to guy". I was not at all impressed with Rolfe's play against UNC. This time there will be no last minute heroics from Louisville's Horton.

Another game with contrasting play styles. Michigan played the typical Big Ten power ball, using a physically dominating style of play. Akron's possession game worked well against it because you can't bowl over the opponent on the way to the goal when you don't have the ball.

Louisville plays with a high-flying style. They like to keep things in the air. So long as Akron can intercept those jump balls and high passes and keep the ball away from them, we should be able to shut that aspect of their game down.

Couldn't agree more...Louisville may be undefeated but one important thing keeps getting let out:

They havn't played akron yet. And tomorrow the Zips are going to take care of them and earn that title in that last stop on this hard road they've had to take.

Zips-3, Cardinals-0

Check out Louisville's schedule. They didn't play near the caliber of schedule that we have. That said, they have proven themselves a worthy side during the tourney.

Just like Michigan(and the rest of the season), if the zips play their style and play it well, they beat the Cardinals and head home with UA's first ever team National Championship.

Go zips!
