They better figure out a way to keep the real paying customers...the season ticket holders. At this level they will always have to do gimmicks to get a decent number of butts in the seats over an EXTENDED period of time. The big money comes from 'sacrifice' games and student fees.

When he was on the radio, Ianello mentioned how this is the first year of a two year plan. If this is year 1, what was last year?

This class was extremely heavy on lineman, which isn't surprising. I think (i hope) that Ianello realizes that linemen are the foundation of the program. I have a feeling that "year 2" is building even more lineman depth and focusing on the skill players. Great linemen make marginal skill players look better than they really are.

Hopefully we made some good gets that will be able to come in and contribute right away. Rivals doesn't seem to think this class is anything special...ranked tied for sixth. Not sure their rating expertise means much of anything. They have Can't ranked third with their class which includes one 3* recruit. Really? How do they figure?

This is the second year in a row Toledo has pulled in an excellent class. Rivals.com MAC recruiting class rankings And having Can't 3rd doesn't make any sense. They only signed one 3-star player. I think quantity over quality plays into the Rivals rankings. Edit: No, I take that back. Not only did we sign more recruits than Can't (23-18) but we signed more 3-star recruits as well (4-1) and have a higher average star-rating than they do (2.17-2.06). It makes no sense. Rivals sucks. -------------------- Terry Bowden. Keith Dambrot. Rick Rembielak. Chuck Amato. Terrell Buckley. Jim Tressel. How ya like dem apples, Terry Pluto?! This is AKRON!

I really like a lot of the video that I saw. He looks like he recruited athletic kids with good frames. They LOOKED like college players. Our typical recruits look like high school kids even after they get here.

It's a shame that I, most likely, won't be around the Akron area to check them out next year. |

this is all a crap shoot but so far i am happy as the staff is doing what they said they were going to do. and to get a top notch kid like rossi is really impressive. normally when you see a 4 star kid coming to akron he never saw the field. this will be different. can't wait to see this kid next to wagner!!!!! (no way they waste him on O). lots of depth lots of depth. good balance with juco kids. hopefully they can be impact players from the jump. any word on the kid from glenville that was supposed to transfer? any body see anything on anderson? just curious as all. thanks!

The full press conference is up on gozips.com to watch.
ABJ article. Matt Rodgers graduated and has left the team. Dylan Potts is being moved to WR. That's why we signed 3 QBs and why D'Orazio will be tried at QB before we decide if he should play as a DB. |

Had insomnia this morning so I looked at some details of this years recruiting class - the whole class had a total of 11 offers - with 16 players receiving no other offers except Akron. For a frame of reference, Toledo's class had a total of 58 offers. So we have the best facilities in the MAC and a recruiting genius who could probably recruit Rush Limbaugh to join the democratic party
