Of those on the list, Dwight Smith is the best. He could do it all. Ints., blocked kicks, returned kicks and played offense. Single handedly won games.

Chase Blackburn was a better player than both Frye and Hixon.

I voted for Dwight Smith on this one. I probably seen him play one of the most dominating college games at DB that I have ever seen. He won a game against Ken+ pretty much by himself at DB. Taylor would be a close second for overall career. Hixon third for that catch. Best play in the biggest game. Fun poll.

I voted for Hixon. Hopefully, he is not done. Already holds several Giants records, and can still have some great years.
Unlike most of you Akron locals, I get to watch him every single game. Healthy, the best return man in the game. Just totally mis-used by the Giants. They used him on punts, but his REAL forte is kickoffs. When he gets up a head of steam, it only takes one cut and he is off to the races.

I look forward to getting him back. It really screwed us last year when he went down. There just was no one available to replace him.

And Chase is the most solid player on the Giants. NOT a great athlete, but he plays his ass off and manages to be in the right place at the right time.

New York Giants’ Domenik Hixon Nearing Full Strength

Just days after the New York Giants re-signed special teams return man, Domenik Hixon, news followed that he is closing in on a full recovery from the ACL injury he sustained during mini-camp last year. With the new contract in place, and formally inked, Giants fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that not only is Hixon remaining a Giant, but should also be ready to take back his role as Big Blue's return man.

As reported on Giants.com, Hixon is elated about his recovery, explaining:

"I feel real comfortable, I feel strong…I was joking with one of my buddies. We were running together and I told him, ‘I feel like I gained a step.'"

Recovering Hixon for the next season will be a step gained for Big Blue as well. In 2009, Hixon stood-out in his punt and kick return performances. Specifically, the Akron alumnus set a New York Giants single-season record in 2009 with 57 kickoff returns for 1,291 yards averaging 22.6-yards per return. Hixon also averaged 15.1-yards per punt return, including a 79-yard touchdown.

The Giants did not have any kick or punt returns for touchdowns in the 2010 season. Part of that blame rests on one of Hixon's 2010 replacements, Darius Reynaud. Reynaud put up lackluster stats in 2010 with an average of 5.7 yards per punt return and 18.4 yards per kickoff return. Despite his disappointing performance, the Giants also re-signed Reynaud to a one-year contract in order to offer some competition to Hixon for the return man position.

It is unlikely this competition will amount to much.

Hixon also elaborated on his preparations and training for the next NFL season, sharing:

"I'm preparing myself as well as I can and getting all the rust off now so when I get back out there I'll be ready for the season and be at full speed. I'm back doing everything full speed. I'm trying to simulate the season I missed with different things."

Seeing #87 fielding kickoffs and punts will be a welcomed change of pace for Giants fans, as will the speed, agility, and experience Hixon brings along with him.

This was a tough one. I was friends with Jason Taylor in school (Poly Sci!!)and it was great watching him on Saturdays. For some reason I don't have many memories of Dwight Smith... though I do recall some very acrobatic INT's. Hixon brought possibly my very favorite sports moment in my life with THE catch in Detroit.

I decided to go with Frye.

I thought with Charlie at QB, our offense had a chance to keep us in every single game.

From the moment he stepped in for an injured Nick Sparks for the OU game, to his mvp performance in the Senior Bowl, it was Frye that brought the most good memories for me.

Now if the poll was "Who is the best football player from U of A" that has to be Jason Taylor. Though, I'm not really sure how his career measures up to John Heisman!
