Well the Zips continue to struggle. Just lost to WMU in pks. They are just not playing good soccer. Don't know if it's the inexperience on the team or what, but they are just not playing well. I don't know if there's a third place game. Either way, we have to hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament now. Even if the Zips do get an invite, I can honestly see them losing in the first round. It is just not our year.

I watched the whole webcast. My poor wife had to suffer through my negative comments the whole way through. I finally had to apologize for using a word I normally don't use in front of her. What an embarassment for a Caleb Porter-coached team.

You all know I'm an absolute soccer rookie and know very little about the fine nuances of the game. But I've been an avid sports fan for almost 60 years, and I catch on pretty quickly to the general flow of games. This team has worried me all year long, but I kept hoping they'd get over the hump and start performing at a higher level.

After today's game, I've reluctantly reached the point where I just don't think they have it in them. It was a good season but not a great one. I have no expectations at all for what this team might accomplish as an at-large NCAA tournament team.

Last season was great. Maybe next season will be, too.
