I'm kind of surprised that nobody from D-I has offered him yet. Not even an FCS school. |

Having watched Snowball play 3 times this year and a dozen times in the past few years, he is DEFINITELY D1 material in terms of intangibles.
He may not have anything that really pops out athleticism wise, but all together he is something special. T-Bowd would be smart to find a spot for him...especially after Fool-a-nello ran Anthony Schrock out of town (another Wadsworth product). -------------------- |

You old timers, or insiders at WHS -- was this kid's father a HS star in the late 70s, early 80s? There was a Snowball in I think the Suburban League (Copley, Norton?) around that time. _____(Terry?) Snowball? Racking the memory cells. Doh! OUCH!

I played T-Ball with Jack Snowball and take a class at Wadsworth while occasionally seeing Jack in the halls. Dave Snowball is his father, who was a coach for the Zips in the 90s-early 00s.
Bowden definitely needs to be aware of Snowball. The kid has a very solid build with tremendous running power. The Wadsworth offense was ran around him, leading them to an undefeated regular season and a deep run in the state tournament. I, for one, would love to see Jack become a Zip. It's sad to see such a great kid, with the accolades he has, not get any big time looks. Would be a steal for Bowden and his program. -------------------- "There's Super Zip... right there. You won't see much/if any I-formation in Coach Bowden's offense. If he doesn't have great speed and be able to catch the ball - that may be a reason he hasn't been offered yet. |

He didn't have the blocking he needed in big games. He has the talent but came up flat when everyone was watching.

@Z.I.P.
His father, Dave, was also the QB for Revere HS in the mid 80s well before he was Lee Owens' first DC. I think Dave went to Toledo. -------------------- "Build it, and they can't tear it down.......not for a good 15-20 years anyway."

They may have a had him in the I formation but he's caught plenty of passes and thrown a few as well. He is an athlete and dominated every opponent. Maybe be a little short I wanna say 5'6 or 5'7 but he's got some speed, he can run. His numbers were way down in 2010 due to injury (broke his collar bone while playing Green High School) but this year he came back and carried the team. If you're gonna take risks on some of these other guys, Snowball is a man worth investing in.

He didn't have the blocking he needed in big games. He has the talent but came up flat when everyone was watching. I don't disagree about the blocking, but coming up flat? Come one, he put up 160 on GlenOak in an upset nobody saw coming. Put up 250 or so on Hudson the next week. Whitmer slowed him down in the regional championship game, but Whitmer slowed a lot of good players down. Wadsworth's only other loss was to Tallmadge and Snowball put up 280 on them in that game. BTW, Tallmadge had a couple of linemen who looked to be college-level players and a big TE who was good. The QB, who is a junior, is also very good. Hopefully, TB gives that program a close look, but I digress. AKSportsfan, Snowball is way bigger than what you posted. He's easily close to 6-feet and probably 210 or so pounds. I live in Wadsworth, but I'm not from here, so I'm not a Grizzlies homer. Still, I've seen him play a half dozen times this past year and he has impressed me every time. He was flat-out the best player on the field against Copley (and their star RB Argeros Turner, who is being recruited by big-time schools). There is no doubt he can play in the MAC. He reminds me a lot of Bobby Hendry (sorry for the obligitory white RB comparison, but it fits). The thing holding him back, from what I have heard is the injury concerns. On top of some knee issues, he also still had pins in his shoulder he was playing with this past season. If not for that, there is no doubt, he would be more heavily recruited. But even those injury concerns have to be less of a worry than before the season. He carried the ball about 35 to 40 times a every time out and didn't miss a game (13). I really don't understand why Akron isn't offering, especially in the current conditions. He's a high-risk, high-reward offer. If he stays healthy, no doubt he can be productive even in a spread-style offense. Plus, if it's any incentive, the sophomore running back at Wadsworth, Martice Jackson, also looks to be a future D1 player (Maverick Carter's nephew). He may have been the fourth best RB in the Suburban League last year behind Snowball, Turner and the kid from Tallmadge. He just didn't get a lot of chances to play outside of blowouts. But getting Snowball could be a way of getting an inside track on landing him down the road. |

I agree with wadszip assessment on Snowball. I live in Wadsworth as well and have seen him play numerous times. He carried the team for the past few years, especially when you considered that he had no passing QB threat. Opposing teams loaded up the line against him, yet he produced. He had a solid line, but they weren't overly big. Even though I believe he will end up at a Mount Union or Ashland, I think he has D1 skills.
Not to hijack the thread, but I'm not as sold on Martice Jackson though. I find him slow to the hole which will doom him at the college level. He isn't overly tall either. Granted, he is only a sophomore, and could grow. I don't know if they are behind him, but he has had discipline issues in the past as well. |

Don't forget Whitmer was under investigation for having Michigan residents on the team. Quite the recruiters... Wadsworth has issues, and they will show up again next season. I'm not a Wadsworth native, but my son both played here, and one still wrestles here. -------------------- My level of sarcasm is to the point where I don't even know if I'm kidding or not

another point about Snowball: look at the team in 2009 with him, 2010 without him, and 2011 with him. They were very mediocre without him. To me, that says a great deal about what type of player he is, especially on a large team sport like football.

I'd say he's about 5'10 if not a little bit taller, but his build is that of like a Maurice Jones-Drew or Ray Rice (not comparing him at all to these guys skill wise, just an idea of his physical attributes). I don't know about his speed at all, but he has that shorter, stocky build. One that is hard to tackle. -------------------- "There's Super Zip... right there. T-Bowd would be smart to find a spot for him...especially after Fool-a-nello ran Anthony Schrock out of town (another Wadsworth product). Athleticism wins college games. If the kid doesn't have enough, he doesn't get a scholarship. Also, giving a kid at a school a scholarship to make up for a decision a past coach made isn't a good reason to get a scholarship. Not many compelling reasons to give this kid a scholarship. -------------------- "...you want it to be one way. But it's the other way." --Marlo Stanfield, The Wire
