I agree with ASN's take that the Ianello gang ruined football for him. It's sad to see.

I say good luck to him. He did everything the Zips asked him to do for four years and earned a degree. What's one more year of football? At some point, we all grow up and maybe this was that point for him. Playing college football really isn't a "grown up" thing to do because other people tell you how and when to do everything. You're really treated like a child. A little time away from it provides reflection and insight into another part of life as a grown up.

I don't think he was much of a candidate for the NFL and I think he knows the same thing deep down inside. He is a hard working, smart guy. I believe he will do well in anything he decides to do. Again, good luck.

It doesn't surprise me really. It was stated that he went to U of Arizona for their graduate program.

However, many of the conspirator's on here couldn't buy that.

Personally if I were him I would have at least played one more season. Even if the motivation is gone, this is something he may end up regretting down the road. We'll never know if he NFL talent, but with the way the economy is these days I'm sure any of us would jump at the chance to play a game for a living.

More power to BW. No doubt he has thought this through for a while. Hopefully he stays at UA and gets his MA. That is a really good academic institution. Brian will be a success, he always has excelled.

It's hard to see a guy like Wagner lose his love for the game, but I respect his decision to step away. I think it speaks greatly about the damage Ianello did to individual players, let alone the program.

If he's smart enough to walk away when he's lost the drive to play, he's smart enough to function successfully outside the game.

He already spent a semester in Arizona...he participated in their spring practices. It sounds like he is done with school and football however.

That's tough to see. He was a great player at Akron and could have been an impact player for the Wildcats.

Can he be a walk on in the NFL or does he have to wait for the draft next year?
The Giants have a near monopoly on former Zips, and I would love to see him get a shot here.

If you paid any attention to his comments, you'd realize that he doesn't want a shot. He didn't say he's done with college football -- he said he's done with football. Period.
