BATTLE FOR THE BASEMENT

the good news is the zips are not the worst team in d-1 with the win over eastern.the bad news shows were are not much
better than the worst teams in d-1.i hope the admin makes the right decision.i saw nothing in this game that would want me to keep jd.we barley beat a winless 0-12 eastern michigan.jd has done nothing the last four season to keep his job.
i just dont see how you can keep a guy with three losing season in a row then follow that with a 3-9 record.
any other coach in d-1 would have been gone last season.if you think attendance is bad now wait till next season.
we need people in the stands to pay for the stadium,and this won't happen while jd is here.i think he is s decent guy
and runs a clean program,but cannot win games.

unc greensboro vs duke

i did happen to watch some of the duke unc/greensboro game.duke beat them up inside and on the boards.unc played zone
most of the game.unc did have a good pg.duke has a bunch of huge frontline players.they played a 7'1 center,and a 6'10 forward.they had two 6'10 guys come off the bench to replace those guys.this is a game where somebody like zeke should have a big impact.i think our frontline guys should match up well with them.they did have some decent guards though.

JD'S Future

i just wondered what everybody though it would take to save jd's job.7-5 would probably save his job i guess,but that's not that great of a season in my mind.we need to start winning our mac games,and going to bowls.the fact is jd has had three losing seasons in a row.if he was coaching any bcs school he would have been fired after last year.i think the akron fan base has been very fair to jd.the problem is the expectations levels are so low for football that a 7-5 season is considered good.our divison will probably have half of the teams in the bottom ten at one this year if not more.if jd does not go at least 7-5 he will have no one to blame,but himself.jd had alott better facilites than faust,or owens.we still somehow cannot have a winning season in three years.teams like temple,and buffalo owens beat up on a regular basis.now those teams are beating us.i am not making a case for lee owens,but just trying to show how far down this f-ball program is now.i am not so sure anything less than a division championship should save his job.the other factor is dr.p did not build a new stadium to see it half full every week.i just hope dr.p really looks at the long term future of this f-ball program,and does that include jd.
there is no reason we cannot find a qualifed head coach with the facilites we have now.as long as akron is willing to pay a fair salary i don't think we will have a hard time finding a new coach if/when the time comes.

THE SEASON IS NOT OVER -YET

while i am upset at what's going on this season there is still two reasons the zips may be able to have a decent season.
the mac conference is terrible this year,and the mac east is even worse.i would think all of the mac east teams have to
be in the bottom 20 right now.all of this facts make this game with O.U the biggest game in j.d.'s carrer.if we lose this
game we will be 1-4,0-2 in the mac.i think at that point it would be almost imposible to win the divison,or become bowl
eligble.if we win against ou we would be 1-1 in the mac,and 2-3 overall.i would not be suprised if 5-3 wins the mac
east.we do not have to be a good team this year to win the mac east.all akron has to do is be the best of the worst.
if jd cannot do that then he will not be here next year.if you look at all the teams in the east miami is probably the worst
team in d-1.buffalo got beat by temple.the same temple team that lost to a 1-aa team.ohio probably looks to be the best of
the worst so far.that's why a win over then would help so much.if we lose in two weeks though i think the wheels will start
falling off the train.i am not giving up hope until after the ou game though.

college hoops net has Can't ranked at 103,and third best team in the mac.bg was #4 best team in the mac.i wonder who will be ranked second behind akron.i thought miami ,ou,and buffalo were all supposed to be decent this year.
