Got to watch the Honey Badger play today vs. Liverpool, as Newcastle drew at home 1-1. DeAndre played a solid match, and really seemed like the point of all attacks. Commentator Arlo White complimented Yedlin when he was discussing striker Salah – "He is undoubtedly quick, as are three other Liverpool players, but none would be faster in the 100 yard dash than DeAndre Yedlin." DY seemed to be in a more central midfield or defensive mid position today rather than fullback. Lee Dixon, analyst also noted that Yedlin was selected for the U.S. squad for the final qualifiers, and that he was "desperately needed for the crucial matches".2 points

A little nervous for me at the end. I was impressed by St. Mary's poise throughout, and they were better than I had thought they would be. Not a case where we played "down", they were just solid.2 points

Well looks like I'm going to avoid the forum for awhile. Zips win and all some fans do is complain. See ya'll later in the season. Not worth it right now.2 points

Troy completes their upset of #25 LSU. It might be fun sometime to go back and read all of the posts in this thread from those who vehemently insisted that Troy was a garbage football program, just a week ago.2 points

On another site I asked a question to someone that is very knowledgeable about college coaches. I asked his thoughts on TB. His response was that TB inherited a disaster and took Akron from terrible to average, but that he didn't believe that TB could take them from average to good. I think this is very true.1 point

Nagbe & Yedlin named to USMNT squad for final qualifying matches for 2018 World Cup. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/10/01/arena-names-squad-tasked-getting-usa-2018-fifa-world-cup1 point

I guarantee he is. Nobody with a brain can watch the zips and think that this program is even remotely heading in the right direction. Bowden is as good as gone and rightfully so.1 point

Larry Williams hit a home run in hiring John Groce & Larry Williams is a football guy. He's likely already got his short-list of candidates on speed dial; might be looking for a reason to give his #1 a call. Bowden's in Save-His-Job mode. I have full confidence in Larry Williams. Heck, #5 YSU just beat #4 South Dakota State last night. Bo Pellini's only 45 minutes away.1 point

Nobody is saying anything about our program. Please keep putting words in mouths though.1 point

I don't want to get involved in this "Is Bowden going to get fired" debate right now. I'll just say that I find it odd to hear someone insist that he gets fired when we just went 1-0 in conference play with an opening game win on the road. But, Ball State is probably also certainly "must win" for the Bowden Regime, because it's a home game against a weaker quality opponent. I think he needs to win all of those, at the very least, since he's certainly being closely evaluated at this point. But is it "must win" for the East Div. race? Probably not after the win last night. But, going 2-0 would certainly help build a little bit of cushion moving forward, with more difficult games looming.1 point

First time we've beaten BG since I've been a Zips fan. This feels good. Kind of a sloppy game but I'll take it.1 point

Why do all the commercials stream perfectly and then the game can't go more than 5 seconds without freezing?1 point

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2017/09/26/cincinnati-leapfrogs-cleveland-columbus-no-1-economy-ohio-28th-nationwide/703487001/ Akron is booming for the first time in decades. It's not typical rust belt desperation and decay. Perhaps that broadened perspective gained from your travels needs to be re-calibrated a bit, scottditzen.1 point
