  1. In my opinion, this who has the bigger wang contest is stupid. And my opinion is the most right.

  3. Skye Harter! Looks like two very tired ballclubs on the pitch now. We have the advantage, in fitness as well as goals!

  4. Excellent point, ZipME87! He is a Sounders Academy product, so I suppose it's up to Brian Schmetzer & Co. I think the HGP rule is just a device MLS teams have to underpay players, by removing intra-league competition and draft options. Players have Garber to thank!

  5. We only have 10 scholarship players who are eligible to play this year. I would expect a pretty fluid starting line up until Groce fogures out his rotations. The only sure starters are Ivey, Utomi and Duvivier.

  7. Kwan off to a good start for the Roos After 4 games he is leading the team in minutes played, 3rd in scoring, leading rebounder, and is shooting well at almost 50% from 3.

  8. I'm excited to see the athleticism on the team this season. The guys looked ripped. It should make for some exciting games and I hope that translates to a lot of wins.

  9. That is my excuse as to why I can't enter the contest. When it is warm though, I am right there with the best of them.

  10. Misleading caption under that picture. That had to be Nick Hinds' 1st goal. I wouldn't call that breaking up a play. I don't think Nick and Bryce were on the field at the same time the rest of the match. So, this picture had to be Nick's 1st goal.

  12. I like hearing "control our own destiny" on Oct. 25th. Again, I think that was the advantage of having a couple of the easier conference games up front, and having that opportunity to jump ahead of everyone else.

  14. EZ was lucky not to get a red card. After the yellow card he was barking to the ref and after that he took a water bottle out of the Pitt trainers hand and then threw it at his feet when he was done. Very lucky, Jared took him out right away and it looked like he got a talking to. I don't know if the yellow card was warranted. Didn't look like it to me but he can't do the stuff after the play like he did. He was out of control.

  24. Hey @Dr Z - Was not able to get the personnel grouping data we were discussing. I could not pause the ESPN3 feed and barely had time to get the positions let alone time to jot down player #s I initially thought ESPN3 would not have the replay available but I've just found that. I may have time tomorrow to work on that. If so, I'll post in in the Toledo game thread once completed and give you a shout/mention.

  25. Miami, Buffalo and Kent are at, or below our competitive level. Those need to be "W's." OU has the advantage of being a steady winner for an extended period. We're still figuring out how to win. But at home, a bowl-worthy Zips team should match up well with the Bobcats. No excuses...we're healthy, and in-line for a championship berth. Time to roll.

  26. Two star recruits can turn around a basketball program in one season. Turning around an 85 student football program takes time. Especially turning around one that was the absolute worst in D-1A. If Bowden would have chosen from Day 1 to recruit freshmen, redshirt them and slowly build a program, he would have been fired within 3-4 years max. You don't win with 18 and 19 year olds. And no AD in today's world waits 4 years to become competitive. So Bowden chose to heavily utilize transfers in the beginning. And we became relatively competitive in a short time. And being relatively competitive allowed us to get a nice recruiting class this past February, and redshirt most of them. For the first time, we have some depth, and can let players develop. This year's recruiting class, by seemingly everyone's estimation, is Bowden's best to-date. The bulk of those kids will be redshirted, and we have the makings of a deep, year-in-year-out competitive upper-tier MAC program. I see us winning 3 of our remaining 4 games. 7-5 would be a great season considering our original circumstances, and the future would look bright too. Our program is now appealing to some decent HS talent. That's my view. Like it or not.

  27. I made a solo trip to Toledo yesterday. I miss my bud Dr. Z's pics, and layout skills. No one likely wants to read about the Zips getting their butts whipped, but I went...and here it is. Toledo.pdf
