Who is going to start the new coach thread? I think the Zips pull a BG this weekend unless something changes drastically in this game.2 points

Disappointed that Sergeant Zip dug up this old post. Now I’ll never be a Supreme Court Judge.2 points

I don't know what everyone is talking about in previous posts. What a great win! Did anyone notice the players out for the OT coin toss. Did Kent send out only Matt Bahr and no one shook hands? Anyhow, I thought the Zips played pretty damn good. How can you feel bad about an overtime 1 point away victory against your rival especially when they screwed up! I love it! Go Zips!1 point

Tell you what. This offense is bad. But Kato wanted it. He wanted the ball and wanted to beat Kent. Can't hate on that one bit1 point

Good grief...it's a miracle Kato didn't fumble it on his last play in regulation. You cannot flail the ball around like that with one arm while being sacked. Wrap it up.1 point

I have only watched the second half but our offense has been in a funk ever since the first half of the Northwestern game, especially in the second half of the game. Tired of seeing the zone read ground game. Our only successful running play is Kato scramble. Difficult to watch!1 point

Promising start first couple drives then typical stupid penalties and a turnover. But the defense seems to have it together....can't believe we didn't score on 1st and goal from the 4....1 point

Take Edwards out of the game and we get rushing touchdown! Not really hard to believe. I hope White and Sands get a lot more carries today.1 point

At the game, Zips have awesome uniforms. Not sure if that is the Kent band or the Smithville HS band.1 point

Its a shame we are posting this kind of stuff before the 3rd MAC game. Broken record in some respects. Offensive issues all over the place. Seems like that has been a problem for a number of seasons, even when they won. I still can not understand why there has not at least been a change in who is responsible for the offense. Are the players being put in the best positions to succeed. I read a comment from another MAC coach in one of the pre-season pubs. He liked the defense a lot. But, he also said he couldn't figure out what they were actually trying to do offensively. In any event,KSU has a decent running back. That is only relative however. They have a few decent guys on the defensive side of the ball. If the Zips commit turnovers on offense, take stupid penalties(like they tend to) KSU will stay in the game and have a puncher's chance. If the coaches don't have the offense moving and scoring early mistakes will decide. Of course they need to run EFFECTIVELY. But,pounding the ball is not in the Zip's DNA. Hopefully,KN is paying attention early. Hopefully,he becomes more of a leader on the field. Hopefully.....1 point

This is definitely "moving" day in the MAC for where the teams will end up in the tourney this game could decide who hosts the MAC tourney #39 SIUE (1-0-1) plays at 36 West Virginia (2-0-0) other games #48 W. Michigan (0-1-1) plays at 125 BGSU (1-0-1) and the biggie...38 Akron (0-1-1) at 46 NIU (0-2-0) Akron and WMU were probably the pre season favorites to finish 1 and 2. At 0-1-1, they both must win tonight if WVU, WMU and Akron all win tonight, there would be a 4 way tie for 2nd1 point

https://niuhuskies.com/news/2018/10/19/mens-soccer-huskies-set-for-saturday-date-with-akron.aspx "Akron is a very good team, they just beat a very good Creighton team," said Swan. "We expect them to come out and be possession-oriented, they have some very dynamic players so it is going to be a battle. It is going to be about staying organized, staying disciplined and if we can do that we will have every chance of getting a result in this game." "Both teams are very young. Everybody has a number of games under their belt, so there is a certain level of maturity, but whoever can stay the most composed and stick to the plan will have the advantage because there is a lot on the line."1 point

That's about what they'd get from Kansas, Louisville or Kentucky. Just no cut to the AAU coach.1 point

Win ,lose or draw, they still have to lay claim to Kaitlin Bennett afterwards.1 point

The school down in Jackson used to be called "Kent State Stark County". Or Kent State Stark CC. Not that long ago. I remember the Rowdies pulled a stunt where they called KSU and requested tix to Kent-Akron men's bb game at Kent, pretending to be students from Stark CC. Think they gave them prime seats, and after they arrived they opened their coats to reveal their Rowdies shirts.1 point
