  1. Looks like we may have a winner here.

  2. Single game tickets are outrageous, I'd agree. The value comes in getting season tickets, but that also means your're committing to go to more than 1 game. That said, price isn't a deterrent for students as admission costs are already built into their student fees and I saw maybe 150 students at the game Tuesday. I'm not sure why we don't see better promotions such as a $1 dog night. Those type of events seem help draw fans to Rubber Duck games. Also selling alcohol at the JAR would open up opportunities like having a craft beer night which could appeal to the younger alumni.

  3. I'm surprised this topic hasn't been brought up yet on this forum. UA is looking for $65,000 by February 20th. http://give.uakron.edu/site/MessageViewer?em_id=3981.0&s_AffiliateSecCatId=1&dlv_id=7601&pw_id=1481

  4. For me, I bought 4 GA season tickets when they were still $60 and came with free parking. I am mid-to-late 30’s with an 8 and 4 year old. Weekday games we don’t go to with it being schoo nights and will watch the first half as a family on ESPN +, then the kids do their reading, go to bed while I watch the second half from my room. I may go to one or 2 weekday games and bring a work colleague from OU if we are playing them. On the weekend we will make most games although I think we may miss the Kent game due to prior commitments. If we didn’t have the season tickets I would probably watch them all at home as opposed to paying the $70+ to attend one game. I think season tickets are a great value even if you only go to half the games. Single game tickets, I understand while people may not want to pay that.

  5. There are numerous reasons for low attendance. The last few years when KD was the coach we went to the MAC finals, drew a big crowd and then lose the game. A lot of those people did not come back. We lost a slew of season ticket holders when KD left the program. Basically, there is no marketing of the B Ball program. And the price of $15 for a ticket, $10 for parking, and the high concession prices make it an expensive night for families. I like the pricing at the superbowl. Charge less and serve more.

  6. None of that matters when the product on the court is good. I remember back in 2012 before our PG was busted for trafficking drugs, the JAR was setting total/student attendance records nearly every home game during the 19 game win streak.

  8. So 247 debuted their transfer portal today, where I imagine they have an insider leaking the NCAA transfer portal info. Good news - I do not see any Akron players on there. I also don't see any listed as transferring to Akron. Looks like Ball St lost both their QB and RB to better schools so far. Yikes! https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/TransferPortal/

  9. NIU is a tough place for any visiting team. The place is like a big cavern with a strange floor and bad lighting. Throw in the fact that there are usually about 2-300 actual body's in the seats and it's easy for a team to feel like they are playing in a scrimmage.

  10. A friend sent me this link and I thought I would share it. Aron Jackson interviews the Zips and at the 4 minute mark Jake gives advice on how to improve your jump shot. Considering how poorly our team has been shooting, Groce may want to follow Jake's advice. It certainly could not hurt. Aron does a great job doing the interviews. It is great seeing Ivey, Antino, E man and Josh as frosh. Antino is playing professionaly in Italy. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjae1p4KXUU

  11. I noticed that as well. He's still heavily guarded. I also saw Jayden's complete fail after the missed free throw. LCJ yanked after running down the court and tossing up low percentage shot in the lane without even looking to pass.

  13. I like the growth, but they're still a couple of players short. I think Williams and Reece may be the players next year to fill out a decent rotation. Reece is only 6-5 or 6-6 but he plays much bigger and we need that help inside.

  14. I really like both Cheese and Banks. Considering how bare KD left our cupboard when he left, I'm really happy with how the team is playing in Groce Year Two. Save Utomi & Ivey (two major pieces, I know) It was almost like Groce had to reboot the program from scratch.
