  1. While attending the Akron Invitational Track meet Friday and Saturday at Stile, there was a lot of activity with recruits, especially on Saturday. A couple of closed door meetings with families, and saw the coaching staff, George Van Horne and Larry Williams with prospects, hanging out watching the meet from the balcony. Don't know who they were but a couple were pretty BIG!

  2. I'm going to withhold my opinion on the class until all signings are officially announced. We seem to still be in the running to land some nice players. As stated, some of these players that have committed that seem underwhelming are going to be walk-ons. Offers are a nice measurement, but so is tape. I don't remember Alvin Davis or Jatavis Brown having any other offers, even FCS.

  3. I've watched Wadsworth football a little over the past 4 seasons. They're a good program with tough kids. I'm sure Mason will be a good one. Wish we'd have gone after Joey Baughman last season.

  4. Great program. My co-worker, whose cubical is adjacent from mine, is the mother of their new QB, Trey. I get a lot of the inside scoop on their program, and that Head Coach is a good one. The foundation he has laid with the proper principles to not only build a strong football program, but build terrific individual young men, is nothing short of impressive. 2 straight undefeated seasons and that's not a fluke. Interesting note about Baughman. He was a Virginia commit for wrestling, but chose Elon for football due to the full ride (I'm assuming) they offered compared to partial for a non-mainstream sport (wrestling). Similar situation with Jack Snowball from a few years back, where he wasn't heavily recruited by DI for whatever reason, although Snowball had injury issues that followed him to MIami (OH) where he walked-on. Mason is a walk-on I believe.

  6. [UA] Forensic anthropologist says opioid use may make identifying skeletal remains more difficult There are only about 10 people is the U.S. who specialize in what UA forensic anthropologist Janna Andronowski does with bone.

  7. DE rated 3* by 247. Has an offer from Kentucky, but its old and I have to assume that they backed off. Also offered by PCCC, Tulane, and a few other G5 teams.

  10. Okay, shaking my head at this weekend's Akron Invitational. I've been following Zips track and field since they helped my kid get back on his feet after ACL surgery back in the early 2000s. I've got the ultimate respect for what the program has become, but this year's Akron Invitational was, well, not so much. We still had some nice Zip performances, Jordan Latimer in the long jump setting a new school record, Curtis Richardson in the High Jump over 7' 1", Abby Wilson winning two weight events, yada yada. But the field was the weakest EVER. Past years saw Big Ten schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State Rutgers, Penn State send teams. Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, have sent athletes as recently as three years ago. But due to an explosion of new indoor facilities, especially at Michigan, the fields have dwindled, and this year was more like an all-comers meet. Kent State, not a bad program mind you, was probably the strongest competition. There were two NAIA schools here! not even NCAA! What a shame. And the meet was waaayyyy too spread out. Friday started with the heptathalon and pentathalon sprints and then nothing on the track for 3 hours! Not a lot for a future recruit to get excited about, nor a gnarly ol' track fan either.
