  2. Tribble is going to be a good one. So well composed for being a true freshman. If he doesn't overtake LCJ at some point this season, its happen next year.

  3. I hate the way that USA Today focuses on the very top and very bottom of college football. They are catering to the least common denominator of readers. It would be so much more interesting to do articles on conference races, rivalries, local traditions, etc. But every day, it is the same thing. Who is #1 for the Heisman? Who will make the Playoff? How is Tua's fingernail or whatever is ailing him this week? I've come to hate national media. College football is so special because of the local interest it draws. But that can almost never be "news" in a national media outlet.

  4. We've pulled it off many times over the years. We've had bigger games too, we had a state semi-final game. We've had St. Ed's-Hudson, St. Iggy, Stow vs. Solon, Big Red from Steubenville. They've all came off fine. This is not our first rodeo for the OHSAA.....

  5. Eventually some of those lay ups will fall and those steals will convert for points. They are challenging every pass. Nice slam for Sayles!

  6. Good first 5 minutes followed by 10 ugly minutes followed by 5 okay minutes.

  7. I want to see him play too. I know this board has already declared him to be no more than an end of the bench extra. But he is long and athletic and had a nice stroke on that free throw. Remember, Everson Walls was a walk on. Sometimes there is a diamond in the rough.

  8. Once again....I know my bretheren would rather see the MAC expand, this is another example of why it should drop soccer - IF (and it's a big IF) all 4 member schools have a home to go to. The Big 10 (14) only has 9 schools in men's soccer......what a great fit for Akron, Western, BG and/or Northern Illinois. Travel time would be equivalent for the most part to MAC, we'd play a bigger in-conference schedule against teams like Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, OSU, Rutgers, Penn State, Wisconsin, Northwestern....all schools we have traditional rivalries with throughout the past 10 seasons either in OOC schedules or tournament play. And that would allow us to be a little more choosy in our OOC schedule, with more home matches and a little less strenuous, because lleague play will be. More opportunities to advance to the NCAAs, better recruiting material to lure prospects, TV on the Big 10 Network....a natural, I'm telling you.....

  9. When you play college basketball titans like NCC and SCU, you play on THEIR schedule!

  11. I think thats another credit to him (and Ali for that matter). True freshman need to know their roles (Virshon Cotton, anyone?)...especially at the beginning of their career. He's been cool and under control all year. Once all of the back ups were in, he took the initiative to create and show us what we can do. I'm looking forward to see what he does as his leash gets longer as the year goes on.

  12. Agreed, especially with taking over for LCJ at starting Point. It was pretty evident in the highlight videos and practice videos I saw from the off-season that this kid's a player. He's very fluid. I think LCJ is the perfect 6th man candidate. High-energy gnat (in a good way) that annoys the crap out of opposing players. I like LCJ - a lot. I think he's very cerebral when he SLOWS DOWN and let's the game come to him. Too often I think he goes into "hero" mode, which is the exact opposite of what his strengths are - distribution on offense and quick hands on defense.

  13. Tribble may be why Roscoe left so abruptly. Even though there have been some struggles, having X and Reece inside is such a huge improvement from only having Riak. Reece was making some Big Dog moves and he and X can really jump.

  14. Man was I impressed with Tribble toward the end of the game when he was our #1 scoring option on the floor. He's got a scorer's mentality and is a serious athlete. He's gonna be a good one! I love the way Ali moves and handles the ball for someone 6'8" but wish he had more of that scorer's mentality that comes so naturally to Tribble. X has MAC POY potential.

  15. I agree with you that Sayles looks lost out there. He cannot hold onto the ball on offense. Had a couple of nice moves to the basket but could not finish. I think he played better as a frosh than as a junior. He is a step slow on this team and needs to be aggressive on offense.

  16. Much more effort tonight. Some interesting lineups tonight, even some with X and two bigs. I continue to have some hope for Sayles but the kid seems to have little or no feel for the game at times. Moves okay and fairly athletic but every time the ball comes to him it seems like the first time he's seen it. Lots of nice seamless switching on the perimeter tonight. Tribble will be even better when he finds his shot and has some confidence in it. He is aggressive with the ball and strong on defense. I think you'll see him even more when teams pick on LCJ's size.

  19. I want this team to come out of halftime like they are down by double-digits rather than winning by double-digits. They need to show some effort and determination and go on an early run.

  20. They are going cold. Deng is offering nothing. He doesn't make himself open.

  21. They’re looking much better to start the game than they did on Friday. I like that our first two buckets were by Reese in the paint.

  24. Hmm, and there was another tweet with four recruits from the same JUCO (I think it was Butler CC) touring campus. Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, Teon Dollard is a 6-0, 215 RB from Independence CC & looks really good; big, quick and fast. Here is his 2019 highlight video from 247 Sports dot com. Isiah Childs is helping us recruit Teon.

  28. Its so strange to have the NCAA soccer tournament come out and not have the Zips in it. And the MAC rep in the tournament didn't win a single regular season MAC match. ?
