  1. The NCAA released the NET rankings today. Akron came in ranked #63, which was 2nd best in the conference. Liberty is currently #19 and Tulane is #127. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings?utm_campaign=trending

  3. They were picked 14th out of 14 in the SEC by SI. Here's a blurb going into the season- In theory, things can only improve as Jerry Stackhouse begins to rebuild a battered program. Vandy going winless within the conference was improbable (unfortunately, that happened), and mathematically even more so the second time around. That’s not to say they’re ready to dig out of the basement, but progress needs to be measured reasonably here. There are high hopes for sophomore Aaron Nesmith, and if junior Saben Lee can rein in the turnovers, he should be able to better stabilize this group. Still, it feels like this could be another long season. They've lost to Tulsa, Richmond and Liberty.

  4. I have followed Dayton and the A10 for quite a while and have never heard anybody refer to the A10 as a P5 conference. Is the A10 a (very) high mid major - yes, a consistent multiple bid conference - yep. Is the atmosphere at Dayton games P5 caliber - you bet, but several of the schools in the A10 play in facilities that resemble a small high school gym. Do you have a source for your P5 claim? FWIW - I didn't state the A-10 is a P5 conference in basketball, I said Dayton is a "P5" team in hoops. Source - They're ranked #14 in the most recent poll.

  6. I guess that's type of game is what you want coming out of exam week and going into a tough stretch of games, but it was a snoozer. Nice of Concord to give them some different looks- a press, some 2-3 zone and some 1-3-1 zone, etc. French and Dunn mentioned in the pregame that Dawson qualified coming out of high school but not out of prep school. Dunn said it would be a nice story for the Beacon. French then commented that the "rag" would only print negative stories about the Zips. Frenchy is continues his fond feelings for GT! LOL. Dawson was present, not in unform.

  7. Cole Meadows is a perfect name for a kid playing on a team from West Virginia. It could only be better if it's spelled C-o-a-l.

  8. 7 years after signing with the Columbus Crew following his sophomore season with the Zips, Wil Trapp graduated Magna Cum Laude today from The University of Akron (1:13:24 in the video). Congratulations fellow UA Alumnus, CrewSC Captain Trapp!

  9. I have heard from an inside source that Jim Tressel is reportedly considering taking the Akron job. He views it as a potential football reviving move for his life. We have a great stadium and top notch facilities and he can recruit as well as anyone in the nation. The future is looking bright for akron.

  10. Unfortunately we are the worst team in D1 until we prove we aren't. I am not against this coach and staff but they have to prove to me that 1) they can recruit, 2) they can coach and 3) they can win. Until all three all done I am a skeptic who wants to be optimistic , but has no proven reason to be so.

  11. So, another Zippy Invitational win for the Women swimmers and divers. My takeaways from the long weekend: U of A sports admin was present and counted for for most of the weekend, and Zippy herself was on hand for all three days, all positives after the 2018 Invite. Kudos. It seems Diving has found themselves again after a couple off years. Soph Kami Goodrick (1st) and Junior Andrea Bugariu were excellent at 1 meter and frosh Paige Kalik had a podium finish at 1 meter, and won the 3 meter. Paulina Nogaj continues to show she's national caliber, winning the 200 yard IM, the 100 yard butterfly, the 200 yard freestyle, 200 yard butterfly and was on 3 Zips winning realy teams Morgan Waggoner is the stud sprinter now, as she won the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle Jackie Pash won the 400 yard IM Andrea Fischer won the 100 yard breaststroke the unthinkable - the Zips lost a relay! They lost the 800 yard freestyle relay to Cincinnati Brooke Lamoreaux didn't win but took 2 seconds in the distance freestyles Freshman Weronica Gorecka won the 200 yard backstroke Paula Garcia won the 200 breast, but maybe isn't at here best yet? Sarah Watson is also maybe off-schedule training-wise? Cornell men are beasts, and Oakland was pushed by Cincinnati s well Lots of nice performances from other youngsters
