  1. Well, this Team Of The Decade Twitter debacle has gone from shamefully misguided to laughably absurd. I have not yet spoken out because I am loathe to denigrate current players. Skye Harter has drawn the unlucky short straw in that regard, having recently depleted his eligible years. (Sorry Skye; love you, man!). BUT who among you believes Skye Harter had a Zips career equal to Aodhan Quinn’s? Manuel Cordeiro’s? MUCH, Much, much less the Zips career of Richmond Laryea! Who would you pick first on your team for 6v6 rotating scrimmage? Seriously. Unfortunately, local boy Skye Harter is probably fourth on this list of four. He might say so himself. And yet Harter leads the poll! Surely! You! Jest!

  2. Amen. No disrespect to the kid but there have been more posts about him than kids who actually committed to and came to Akron. He'd be a nice get but I suspect he has "bigger" offers coming.

  3. I think limiting the voting to just Twitter is stupid. Facebook has the same poll capacities, and Instagram has similar capacities I believe. 2010 was 10 years ago - Facebook was and still might be bigger with the people that followed that team/era so closely, while the other years might have the Twitter advantage. I agree with @a-zip - I started with 2010 and filled it in from there. There are very few worthy of knocking off those 2010 players for 2 reasons... 1) Many on that 2010 team decided to COME BACK to Akron after losing the '09 title in PKs 2) They WON THE FREAKING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Yedlin might be up there on the list for me because of how he has represented Akron on the National & International stages. Aside from that, while the teams that went to the College Cup 3 out of 4 years were great, none of them finished the job, and quite a few players took the pro route instead of returning to finish the job (I don't blame them, I just think the aspect of the '09 guys returning for 2010 makes them that much more special). We Are Akron. We Are Soccer Kings. P.S. I don't have a Twitter so I can't vote.

  4. I'd like to see us get back to our consistently outstanding free throw shooting. Seems like we've been missing more often in recent games. Hopefully X finds some of his shot at the very least, because that has been the difference between our closer victories lately vs. the blow-outs we were experiencing earlier in the MAC schedule.

  5. My list started with everyone on the 2010 team and then I tried to think who could fit in from there.

  6. 7 positions voted on...so far.... and not one single member of the 2010 National Championship has been deemed worthy (by the twitter universe) of a spot on the all decade team. Chad Barson, who memorably and heroically cleared the ball off the line late in the title game....finished 4th in the voting for right center back Perry Kitchen, who was an absolute beast in 2010...and one of the greatest college freshman that I have ever seen...finished 3rd in the voting for defensive midfielder It will be an absolute shame....if Darlington Nagbe is not voted to the All Decade team 2010 team, you are loved and respected.....by so many fans. Very sorry that you are not being properly honored in this voting.

  7. Was Bryan Gallego not Great Lakes Region First Team and All-MAC First team and NSCAA All-America Second Team in 2013? Apparently, that was not good enough to be one of the four finalists for LCB. I believe Joao Moutinho won that spot on the All Decade team, and I have no problem whatsoever with that. But doesn't Gallego merit some recognition?

  8. We NEED this one. A win is almost a clinch for the auto NIT bid. It would be GREAT having that in our pocket going into Cleveland. This team deserves a post season.

  9. Frankly I'm just not going to watch youtube videos of some random high school kid who might not even attend Akron. Based off the qualifications that you listed and his 1/2 dozen D1 offers, he seems like he would be a solid get and I can see why Groce offered him. If he commits I'll actually take a look and offer an opinion on the impact I feel he can make. In the meantime I still appreciate hearing updates in case he does commit.

  10. I'm probably more confident in this game than I should be. I just don't think BG is as good as their record indicates. As I mentioned earlier, they are 7-0 in MAC games decided by 3 points or less. I'm going to go Akron by 5.

  12. Eugene German may replace Cheese. Similar type of slashing player. M Jackson from Toledo may not help his team out of a first round away game so he's out
