  1. Some sort of spring roster would be nice, or even an updated coaching staff to see who replaced Chris Cook and Jamael Lett. I suppose beggars can't be choosers!

  2. NCAA or bust. With the number of programs hurting financially after this college sports year, the CBI, CIT, etc., where you have to fork over some cash to host or travel, don't make sense at all. NIT field is halved (ridiculous, by the way) to boot. Outside of the Zips, I haven't watched a lick of college basketball this year. Without the atmosphere, it loses its luster with me. I'm most likely going to be picking my bracket based on if I like the mascot or the primary color. These are typically the brackets that do well, though, right?

  3. Ball Stare had a chance. Missed 2 open 3s to tie. This will push the Akron game back to 7 or so.

  4. Yeah usually they punch players on the other team.

  5. Toledo reminds me a lot of the Zips last year. When things get tough, they have a few guys who can put the dagger in from the 3 point line and can turn it on in crunch time.

  6. It's going to be important for Trimble to find his shot again. I'm not feeling as good about our chances as I was a month ago, but we still have the best player in the MAC so we will have a fighters chance no matter who we face.

  7. A really popular coaching strategy now says shoot the 3 or get a layup/dunk - no 2 point shots. I disagree.

  8. How about some 2 point attempts (for a change)?

  9. Congrats to Torrey Patton (23 points 10 rebounds) and the Vikings for winning the Horizon League tournament. The Vikings have never lost an opening game in the NCAA tournament. I remember them upsetting Bobby Knight and Indiana in 1986 (and making the sweet sixteen) and knocking off Wake Forest in 2009.

  10. Freeman makes all defensive team and not even an HM for all conference? Strange.

  11. George has been an Akron guy from the moment he was a student athlete here. Unfortunately he has not developed a track record of success to indicate he could manage an athletic dept and lead us out of the problems we now have. Williams was not the answer altho' I give him credit for spotty improvement in some areas. We need to go outside the university to find someone who will give us five years of exceptional leadership. But Akron's administration, especially this board of trustees, never misses an opportunity to blow big hires. A change in AD's should give us all hope, but our track record takes all that away. In this instance I think the board of trustees should follow the lead of George Costanza and have an Opposites Day wherein they do the opposite of anything they would normally do. It worked great for George. Why not us. We deserve a break.
