  1. Overshadowed this past weekend by Dyson Clapier's heroics was a (no exaggeration) perfectly executed FK goal by WAN KUZRI WAN KAMAL. Foul was committed about 23 yards from net, slightly shaded to the left of center. A standard five man wall. Referee spotted the ball a little too close to easily lift over the wall and drop on frame. WKWK positioned himself at an obtuse angle to goal, telling everyone that this would definitely be a right footed shot. He backed off the the ball a standard four step run-up. But at the whistle, the ball never took flight. He bent the ball around the far side of the five man wall, banging off the inside of the far post for the score. The ball was never more than three inches off the ground! We were all momentarily too stunned to cheer. Very technically difficult!

  2. Article said significant majority are vaccinated so hopefully these are mild cases. This situation will likely pop up for a lot of teams. On another note, good article! *correction: significant majority of team is vaccinated, not necessarily the players who are out.

  3. You are correct. Kato, DJ Irons, Ant Williams & Jonzell Norrils were absent. When asked exactly how many of his players were not on the field, Coach Arth offered a blunt assessment. "A whole lot," he said. "We're missing a lot of guys who are going to be starting and playing significantly for us this year." Arth wouldn't specify why the players were missing, but GT suggested it could be COVID. It must be. Apparently the reason is neither related to injury nor disciplinary.

  6. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-2021-preseason-top-30-mens-college-soccer-national-poll/ This Zips team....with 13 new comers ......is going to have to prove themselves to the so called soccer experts. The zips did not receive a single vote in the college soccer news top 30. https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/ The zips received 1 point (a 25th place vote) when the US soccer coaches did their pre season poll. The zips will step on the field as decided under dogs in several games this year. Diogo, Jason, Will Jackson, Carlo, Daniel, Dyson, Will Portman, Renato Kauzlaric, Ryan Kingsford, Malik Henry , Tobias Bak . Wan Kuzri, a very talented goal keeper and the 22 other zips are going to have to prove that they are top 25 team to their opponents and the US soccer coaches. That being said, Wright State is a quality team. The zips need a big crowd for the home opener on August 26 and this unproven team needs to get a home win and a road win at E. Lansing. START PROVING IT on Aug 26 and Aug. 29......Soccer Zips. Looking down the road, both polls have last year's college cup semifinalist Pitt ranked at #3. The first article says that Pitt returns 10 out of 11 starters from that high powered offensive team. Not sure when the students return........but the zips marketing department......needs to be working overtime....to get the AK rowdies out in force for that game. Cub Cadet Field at FES.....needs to be packed for that Akron - Pittsburgh game

  8. Unfortunately, JT has been getting clobbered since your post. He was having difficultly locating the strike zone, his delivery got out of sorts, and he is giving up a TON of dingers. My hope was for JT to be one of the few serviceable starters for the Buccos, but the jury is still out with his latest performance. I do give him credit for being positive and upbeat, despite playing for the worst owner in professional sports!
