  1. Anyone else enjoying 3 games per week? I could easily get used to this.

  2. I don’t really disagree with the comment, but in todays transfer happy landscape it probably won’t mean anything in the long run unless Kalle is content being the 3rd big the next couple seasons, and that’s assuming Groce doesn’t bring in anyone to supplant him in the meantime. Honestly I find the fact that the 2 guards aren’t worth burning their redshirt to help our short-handedness to be a bit of a red flag.

  3. If you’re concerned about COVID, you should come to the JAR. My section is at about 8% capacity. Others are even more sparse. You have a better chance contracting COVID in your own attic than you do at the JAR this year.

  4. Gotcha! That makes sense. I guess everyone should know by now to just contact me if they want them! By the way, I have 2 tickets tomorrow if anyone wants them shoot me a PM. LOL.

  5. 😄Some of us may have bet the following ... 2/4 vs Miami - "I have two tickets for anyone who wants them. Shoot me a PM." 2/12 vs PCCC - "Not tonight, my good man. I'm heading to the JAR!" 2/17 vs NIU - "I have two tickets for anyone who wants them. Shoot me a PM." 2/22 vs BUGS - "I have two tickets for anyone who wants them. Shoot me a PM." 3/4 vs CMU - "I have two tickets for anyone who wants them. Shoot me a PM." NOTE: Absolutely appreciate that you make the effort to offer tickets like you do. No offense intended. Just noticed a bit of a pattern this year.

  8. Remember Akrons triple or quadruple OT game against Miami in the QFs in Cleveland? Everyone fouled out and only guy left on bench was Josh Egner, who KD wouldn't put in. Never know when we will need him. (Kalle not Egner)

  9. Oh yeah. Not sure our 7 man rotation does though lol

  10. And I'm still confused why we didn't redshirt Kalle. What a waste.

  11. Probably because of the short bench and Covid, Groce has completely changed how he originally wanted this team to perform this year. In the beginning of the season, we were playing fast and bringing the ball up the floor quickly. Now we have the slowest offense in the league. Groce indicated this teams strength would be rebounding. We just got outrebounded badly in the last 2 games. We were going to play a West Virginia style pressing defense. Our half court press has been tepid and we back out of it. We have not seen any type of pressure defense until we were down 12 to Western. I am not complaining but it is interesting how Groce has changed his approach to this team as the season has progressed. Offensively, we look great when Trimble is on and we struggle when Trimble is off. In the post game at Bowling Green their assistant coach indicated that they played poor defense. I just did not see that. Trimble made shots well behind the 3 point line. It is impossible to stop a hot shooter when he is draining difficult shots. The 2 guards from Western killed us making the same type of shots Trimble was making on Thursday.

  14. The ZTV Sports Report has some of the worst commentary ever, I understand they are students too, but man most of the time they are shades off of "boom goes the dynamite". This one is actually one of the better clips, I recall a soccer clip from two years ago where they called a throw-in a "foul ball". That shot by X was only his second 3 he made after shooting 9 from deep before only making one.

  15. Another one of those "were you there?" games. The "commentary" misses much of the game ending drama, including Eastern missing tons of FTs. Also, you can see Channel give his back for team at the end.

  16. When they do, you can bank on him having either - A.) Knocked off a liquor store B.) Scored a 4 on his SAT C.) Possessed a 450 lb bench press, and the bone density of Betty White D.) Been grossly over-starred Note - Multiple correct answers are possible.

  17. Because there seems to be so much debate whether the 5*, 4*, 3* and 2* system adequately measures athletic talent, I propose a new trademarked rating system. This system is based on the apparent magnitude of all known stars (excluding the sun) rather than either the stars absolute magnitude or its distance from Earth. This criterion results in the following four categories: Sirius, Canopus, Rigel Kentaurus and Arcturus. This system should provide welcome relief to the severely mathematically challenged, and the only drawback I predict is that for a while we all are going to have to suffer through sentences that include, for example “the canopus (formally 4*) wide receiver…), similar to what we experienced when 1AA was replaced by FCS. I’m looking forward to the day when the Zips nab their first Sirius. Go Zips.

  18. If they win in it, I could adjust to something as bland as Penn State or as obnoxious as Oregon.

  20. Tavari Johnson update: Glenbard West Hilltoppers are #1 in Illinois crushing opponents by more than 25 points per game. Glenbard has 4 D1 college commits led by 6-9 forward and Gonzaga commit Braden Huff. In a big 32-team holiday tournament Glenbard was looking forward to playing Bolingbrook in the championship game. But behind Tavari's 28 points his Lyons team upset Bolingbrook. Glenbard overwhelmed Lyons in the championship game as Tavari is the only D1 commit on an otherwise mid-pack HS team. Led by Tavari Lyons is now 16-3 with 2 of those losses to #1 Glenbard West. Lyons is currently ranked #10 in Illinois despite limited talent behind Tavari.

  21. I thank you guys for your posts regarding the importance of recruiting Stars. I have been beaten up on Zips Nation for years for saying that Stars matter. There will be a post showing 5 players over a 15 year period in which Stars do not correlate to success. Stars are not 100% perfect, but the teams with the most Star players typically win. It is mostly about talent. When talent is close to equal, then coaching matters. I went back and did a quick comparison (not 100% accurate) of the last 5 years of recruits of all of the teams that the Zips played this year. The Zips had fewer Stars of most of the teams, except Bryant, and BGSU was close. Who did we beat? The bottom line is that talent (Stars) wins. It looks like JoeMo is going after talent. That pursuit will quickly result in Wins. In Joe We Trust!!!

  22. I understand what the STARZ DON'T MATTER folks are trying to say, we all see Jatavis Brown as one of the best Zips of all time after all. But the idea of loading up a roster with STARZ is more of a depth thing, as opposed to loading up a roster with whatever the hell the last coaching staff considered to be talent. So, Stars Don't Matter********* *********-yeah they kinda do (get it, because stars 😉 )
