6'5 225, Pro-Style QB, Ohio boy, JUCO, will be ready to go for the spring semester and spring practice . What more do you want? You can't watch his film and not know he is a huge upgrade over Patrick Nicely. He doesn't have a firm offer yet, so if Ianello has any sense about him, he'll offer him tomorrow, promise him his shot, and lock him up. Even if he turns out to be nothing, we need competition and we need OPTIONS. The more guys with the ability to play we bring in, the more likely we'll find one who will pan out. This guy's a great start.

That's a fake video. It is really Bart Starr. No wait, it's Johnny Unitas.
That guy is going to play for someone in the NFL if he stays healthy.
No way is he going to choose Akron. Maybe The Ohio State University.

Certainly has the pedigree as he's Cliff Stoudt's son. Originally attended Louisville and left. Would love to see him in a Zips uniform, but I'm guessing he'll end up at a bigger program. Of course ICoach is a genius recruiter (lord knows he can't coach) so we should land him.

Last I heard, we were heavily recruiting his younger brother Cole Stoudt, also a QB and a senior in HS. Maybe we could get both, Zack starting for his two years with Cole learning under his wing ready to come in, after Zack graduates, as a redshirt sophomore.

One positive: The ability of this right-hander to throw when rolling left is impressive. Two negatives: Didn't see him take too many snaps from under center. Our coaching staff could have him all messed up within a season. He is too slow; it takes 6:50 to show his highlights. We could show PN's highlights much more quickly.

A lot of big time programs shy away from JUCO QB's unless they're desperate, and that's our advantage. Ianello needs to contact him, give him his first firm offer, give him some guarantees, make hiim comfortable, and get him in here in January. The best thing RI could do would be to send him Nicely's lowlight film from the first five games with the title "This will be your competition for the starting job".

Zack Stoudt has been offered by Wyoming. It's currently his only offer.

Looks decent in highlights against juco competition. Interesting that so many schools have at least some interest in him but not willing to make an offer. Maybe they know more than we do.

I remember watching his father, Cliff Stoudt, during his playing days at YSU. M y dad was shocked when Pittsburg drafted him in the 5th round of the 1977 NFL draft. I remember him having a cannon arm, but no accuracy.

My Uncle played with Cliff and sent me a black & white autographed 8x10 for my birthday when I was little. I'll have to dig it up and scan it, maybe that will convince him to come to Akron.

Myron Cope used to call him Clipboard Cliff because he played something like his first six years in the NFL without ever getting into a game.

FYI= Stoudt is completing 59% with 8 TDs and 3 picks in JUCO ball.
Nicely completed 55% with 6 TDs and 6 INTs as a freshman last year.
My point: looks like solid COMPETITION, but certainly isn't tearing up the JUCO ranks.
Nicely looks to be regressing..and I wonder how much is on him and how much is on the coaching staff, losing every experienced WR except LaFrance, etc. His pick 6 throw out of the endzone might have been the worst pass I have ever seen a QB throw.

I did some research into dads record at YSU. He hold the records for most career starts, most rushing touchdowns by a QB, most interceptions for a career, most interceptions in a season. His record was 21-18, with 3 losses to the Zips, including a 24-3 loss his senior year.
Johnson, who is from the east Texas town of Kountze, did not dress for West Virginia's 49-10 victory against UNLV on Saturday. After that game, Stewart told a few media members that the quarterback was experiencing homesickness (for a second time) and contemplating his future.
Also I noticed further down they talked about that he might be upset from being named as the 3rd string. Sounds to me like a lot of baggage. But I would definitely not be opposed to giving him a call.

Im not sure if I would fully classify it as "baggage". He might be upset, sure, but if he is using it as a motivator to go somewhere else to prove he's got what it takes to be a D1-A player, then its energy our team could use.

Say all you want about dual threats...Ianallo is probably NOT going to look at that type of player.
ND has 3 freshman QBs right now. Ianallo and Powlus have a relationshp with those guys. Could see one of those guys in the future, but that would AT LEAST be 2 years away.

I wouldn't rule anything out, this is not ND and you are going to have to win in a different way here, but you make a good point.

Didn't think of it that way, good thought, and makes a call to him from our staff all the more needed.
Interestingly, he cites playing time and a desire to go to the same school as his brother as high priorities. Younger brother Cole now has at least 9 offers in addition to Akron's, including 3 from "BCS" schools.

Cole has already committed to Wyoming.
Well, now Scout and Rivals say Cole's going to Clemson after it was widely reported he was going to Wyoming. Sounds like he doesn't know what he wants.
Hopefully Zack doesn't get blinded by his desire to play with his brother and verbal somewhere he doesn't really want to go. Or maybe Cole is trying to escape his brother's shadow and go to a school that hasn't offered Zack.

I'll admit I got pretty confused trying to research Cole's decision. I wonder if their Dad would be upset if either were to wind up being a Zip?

This story seems to confirm Cole's having changed his mind, verballing to Clemson after de-committing from Wyoming. I realize that committing and de-committing has become commonplace these days, but IIRC Cole only committed to WYOMING a few weeks ago (at the most). Makes you wonder how many voices both Cole and Zack have to hear while trying to make their choices.

You can pretty much count Zack Stoudt out. He's either going to Mississippi or Kansas.
