The link fails. Here is the article:

RAVENNA, Ohio - A Can't State University basketball player was arrested Wednesday.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Department said that Jarekious D. Bradley, 20, went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and demanded money that he said he was owed.

Investigators said that while he was trying to get money from her purse, the two got into a physical altercation, injuring the woman.

Other people at the apartment gave Bradley money to get him to leave, the sheriff’s department said.

Bradley was taken into custody later in the day without incident. He has been cooperating with detectives, Sheriff David W. Doak said.

Bradley has been charged with aggravated burglary, a 1st degree felony and criminal damaging, a 2nd degree misdemeanor.

He is being held without bail at the Portage County Justice Center.

Bradley is expected to be arraigned Thursday at the Ravenna Municipal Court.

Bradley, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Memphis East High School, was admitted to Can't State last year and was expected to play his first game for Can't State this season.

It is all a simple misunderstanding. After beating the crap out the young woman half his size Bradley
quickly went to hide in Ron Senderoff's skirt. Of course, when the "real" story comes out the woman,
not Bradley commited the assualt protecting her property. Or, was it his property? Can't State interim
president I M Onhisside will make the determination after the upcoming season concludes.

Senderoff , muttering under his breath, defended his wayward charge with claims, "its all her fault."
"If she had not lent him the money, oops, that's an NCAA violation, this would never have happened.
Obviously the little tart is an Akron student planted by their dastardly Athletic Dept."

Stay tuned folks, this is going to get better.

Channel 5 must not allow links to individual stories. I've tried posting a link to the story using several different formats, and nothing works. You just have to go to the Channel 5 website and navigate to the story from their front page:

Newsnet5 lets you link stories just fine. ZN is set to change the word ken+ to can't. When ken+ is in the url, that's when everybody has problems.

It's been a running joke here for years about the Felons at K3nt State, but this is getting ridiculously unfunny. Are they actively screening recruits to find the worst kind?

A big part of the new AD's platform over there was cleaning up the basketball program. Let's see how he reacts to the second arrest this year for the program.

Man this is nuts. You can make an argument that although we give Can't a lot of crap for being awful people and stupid and all that, that really they are not all bad people and that it's all in the fun of the rivalry. However it's not even a joke anymore to say that their basketball players are criminals. Way to perpetuate stereotypes...bunch of thugs

Go to the Docket and look at the complaint. This one might not go away so easily.

I am sure the new AD will step in hard and make the tough but right decision of suspending this felon for multiple minutes... from practice of course. After all, no one died and you can't blame the kid he was drunk and high and...

Begs the question ... if they are what they are .. are they or are they not stereotypes?

I'm sorry you misunderstood me (my fault for not being clear). What I was saying is that in all seriousness we have two big stereotypes about Can't. 1) Every student there sucks (based on us just hating their school in general) and 2) They're entire basketball team are thugs (based on their entire basketball team being thugs).

Immaturity reigns supreme in Portage County. And yet again the flashes board is lit up with excuses for the kid. Including one person playing the race card. I'll admit that in the grand scheme of criminal acts, this is relatively low on the totem pole, but when you see this kind of stuff over and over and over and over again from their basketball program a trend starts to emerge. Singletary's OVI, Singletary resisting arrest, Guyton "repossessing" a woman's car, Bradley breaking into his girlfriend's apartment. I'm sure I am missing quite a few. Can't has allowed this sort of crap to go on year after year because nobody actually gets punished when it happens. They get a half a game suspension, or they get held out of a few practices, Dave Carducci writes another story about how it is all just a big misunderstanding and we should all forgive and forget the youthful indiscretions and they are right back on the team by the time the next big game roles around. This won't stop until their President, AD and coaching staff systematically change their approach to discipline. Start recruiting kids who aren't head cases and start implementing some disciplinary measures with actual teeth when they do act up. It is either that or continue watching your players show up in the police blotter. As frustrating as the whole Brett McKnight situation was last season, it really is a glaring example of what is right with our program and what is wrong with the Can't program. At Akron you are held accountable for your actions. At Can't it is societies fault and we need to all just sit around the camp fire singing koombaya.

I stand corrected. Actually, most of their students suck. And most of their basketball team suck.
I think you will find the feelings of hatred are mutual from both institutions of higher learning.

According to Bradley's MySpace account, he only just became friends with Alyssa Krasovec on February 20. That sure didn't last long. Wonder what it was he "just got dne beatn some up" on March 28?

Apparently he is "suspended indefinitley" pending the outcome of the court case according to the Beacon (Beacon story also indicates that 5 players on Can't's 15 man roster have had run ins with the law in recent years). How much you want to bet the charges are dropped or reduced, he pleads to a far lesser offense like disturbing the peace and is re-instated without so much as missing a day of practice? Pretty predictable path.
Blue & Gold
The ABJ article states that 5 of the 15 players on the current K3nt roster have had "brush ins with the law" during the past year! One-out-of-3?! They should be very proud.

Remember, it's all about the noble concept of giving troubled youths a chance to straighten out their lives. The fact that they are outstanding athletes who help maintain the Can't basketball team's winning record is secondary. rolleyes.gif

Really should be closer to 7:

Jarekious Bradley - Aggravated Burglary (July 13, 2011)
Eric Gaines - Disorderly conduct (September 26, 2011)
Carlton Guyton - Unauthorized use of motor vehicle (December 15, 2010)
Randal Holt - Drug Possession (June 20, 2011)
Robert Johnson - Disorderly conduct (September 26, 2011)
Justin Manns - Disorderly conduct (May 8, 2011) and violation of restrictions (March 18, 2011)
Michael Porrini - Driving under suspension (September 7, 2010)

Some program they are running over there.

Bradley has left Can't and is transferring to a junior college.

This thread has been quiet a lot longer than one would expect from a team that specializes in studying the criminal justice system from the inside.

What if there were arrests going on that were not being reported by local media? How would we know?

Well, we could always check in every month or two with the Portage County Clerk of Courts website, go to Search Court Records, go to Public Access Record Search and start entering the first and last names from the Can't basketball roster.

Oh, my. What have we here?
