I wonder what conference the Zips will be in come 2018. Hope it has changed for the better.

Word out of UA is that ND ran into a scheduling conflict and bought out of the Zips game. Add that up with the latest word out of ND that the Irish are considering moving their Olympic sports to the Big 12 and, as part of the agreement, could eventually schedule up to six football games per season against Big 12 teams.

Could be just a coincidence that the Zips' series against the Big 12's Iowa State should be announced at virtually the same time that the ND game is dropped and ND is rumored to be scheduling up to half of their football games against Big 12 opponents. But it all fits together pretty well.

That is absolutely great news for me. My daughter is an ISU grad, but even better, I'm only 30 miles from Ames. I had a lot of fun at Iowa City a few years ago even though the Hawks blew us out in the first half. Charlie Fry took a cheap shot at the end of the first half that kept him out the second half. Ames will be a great road trip for everyone. Great game day experience. Next on my wish list is Northwestern Wildcats, my sons alma mater. We seem to run into the Cats in other sports a lot. Game day experience at Evanston is not so good, but I could score 50 yard line seats with my son.

I don't see the fit. Iowa State is the bone thrown to the Zips to replace ND!
