Andy Alleman said he didn't get anything really cool for Christmas.

It was the day after when he received an invitation to the NFL Combine in the mail.

The event, Feb. 21 through 27, includes about 10 players at each position most likely to be drafted.

If you remember, Domenik Hixon was not invited last year, but the Broncos still drafted him in the fourth round.

Alleman might have even higher potential. NFLDraftScout.com lists him as a third or fourth rounder and the fourth-best guard in the draft. The site also says his stock is rising.

If you haven't noticed, the Cleveland Browns could really use two guards. They will probably go through free agency for one, the draft for the other. You might see Alleman follow Charlie Frye north on I-77.

"It would be nice to go there," Alleman said. "Believe me."

Well today is my dad's birthday and mine, and Andy got HIS present on OUR birthday, so that's good enough for me. Not bad for a player that didn't get All-MAC

Speaking of that, is Kemme leaving early to enter the NFL draft?

Kemme is only a Sophomore he'll be a Junior next year.

He didn't pick himself. Should he not have accepted the award? Picking on him seems a bit sarcastic. The o-line had many problems and he had his share of miscues. I'm surprised by the cutting remark and a bit disappointed.

No offense but I feel like I sense a bit of bitterness... hmmm. If Alleman is going on the first day and people think Kemme is better, does it really matter, it's kinda a win-win isn't it?

Obviously someone thinks Kemme is better... so I think it's good we'll have at least one real solid lineman returning

I'm very happy for Alleman and wish him the best. Don't cut other players down for having success... same team man, same team, it's good for both of'em. It's ok to whine about our player not getting an honor, but when another Zip does, don't cut him down cause you think the other guy deserved it. It seems a majority of people disagree or else Alleman would have gotten it too.

You don't need to feel bad for Alleman I'm pretty sure he'd rather be a first day pick in the draft and not be All-MAC, then to be All-MAC and not go on the first day.

Here's the real intriguing thing about Razor on the Zips: He refuses to acknowledge the child he created out of wedlock nine and a half months ago. Heartless. It's the holidays, dude.

I read that comment and thought it was pretty funny. Maury always ruining a debonair style.

It's pretty dismaying to see that a team which played as poorly on the O-line as Akron did this year may have two future NFL players from that line. What does it say? If you ask me, it says this team desparately needs someone to coach the offensive linemen.

I've heard from someone who has coached OL in the NFL (now Oregon State's OL coach) that no area of football is as susceptible to improvement from effective coaching as the offensive line. Effective blocking technique, especially understanding leverage, is more important at the position than pure strength could ever be.

Is there any chance of a change in the coaching staff there, or will other players have to wait till they leave Akron to excel?

It should be interesting to see how long Razor ignores his new found responsibilities as a father. Pretending the kid doesn't exist won't work. Just ask Shawn Kemp. Raise him right, other wise when he inherits your blog he'll cover OSU.
