Where is Dave in Green when you need him???

The way I read it, if we win 3 out of the remaining 5 games, only BG could top us.

Buffalo and NIU could tie (at 13 wins), but can not get to 14.

This does not take the head to head into account, and that might eliminate one or two of them.

If we win 4, we own #1 or #2, depending on what BG does.

A 20-6 team SHOULD be able to win 3 out of the last 5.

a few years back, there was a MAC tournament simulator floating around the internet.  You could plug in all of the different results and it would spout out all the seedings.  Can't find it this year.

Not giving this one back, but I am getting a little tired of ugly wins.

X's shot problems have now gone from mechanics into his head.

X made the two biggest 3s of the season.  It's almost like that Eastern Michigan win saved the season.  There was a pall hanging over the JAR that fateful Saturday.  Then X with the help of the Hurons Smallsville pulled off the miracle.

The Zips aren't Buffalo of last year.  They are a well-coached team that rode its starting 5 pretty hard for most of the season.  They are playing way beyond predictions.  They may go 0-2 on the road vs. Buffalo and BG, so these two wins and a win on Saturday would be huge.

  3. need to have that poise and connectivity to hold on to this one.

love the Zips but just skeptical they can make it through the tournament.  Seems to be one piece missing.  This should be a blow out.

All the games are close tonight.  This thing is wide open.

I want the Akron to get the one seed for the auto NIT bid if they don't win all three in Cleveland. The Zips are more than capable of beating any team in the conference but you never know how a team may react when its do or die or when its three games in three days. Secure at least the NIT then worry about Cleveland.

The first tournament in a long time, at least for me, in which I don't think the Zips "should" win or I know that Buffalo will win.  I can foresee EMU causing all sorts of problems for one or two rounds and also can imagine Toledo or he Kittens getting hot from 3 on a Thursday afternoon in Cleveland and taking out a top 4 seed.

Sayles has been a good teammate thus far by not showing his displeasure of falling out of the rotation, but I'd be surprised to see him in a Zips uniform next season. As a freshmen he was playing 14.6 m/g. Last season he played 12.4 m/g. This season he's down to 5.4 and hasn't even appeared in the Zips last 2 games. Unlike some other Zips transfers who really weren't good enough to play D1 basketball, I could see Sayles being a meaningful contributor on an America East caliber team.

    Like Aaron Jackson?

EMU making their typical late season push to save Rob Murphy's job. After starting off 0 and 7 they have climbed out of the basement in the MAC West And if the zips hadn't pulled off that sort of miracle win against them they would have won five straight. Kind of glad we're done with them for the regular season don't actually want to see them in the tournament.

Yeah.  Annoying isn't it?   Frankly, I was especially annoyed by Toledo and Ball State and their average coaches thus weekend.  They could have done the Zips a favor but flopped at home.  And Pinky also always does just enough to stay above mediocrity. And to bring it all together, PCCC travels to Ypsilanti on Tuesday.

  7. I will put this info here since there won't be too many posts leading up to this game.

Akron is the best FT shooting team in the MAC.  In conference play Akron is 81.2%.

I looked at the three losses and found this interesting stat:

Toledo:     average 75%  hit 89% (10 point loss)

Buffalo:    average 68%  hit 87%  (3 point loss)

Ravenna:  average 71% hit 80%  (1 point loss)   in that game Akron was 12-14 and Ravenna was 12-15.

Ball State is a 7 pt favorite tomorrow. Money is on BG playing a little over their heads to start MAC play and Frye being a big loss

You were saying? Well BG did almost blow a 20 point lead which they had with 4 minutes left.  Lesson: don't ever count on Whitford and Ball State to get the job done.

Starting is overrated IMO. If he's getting 22-25 minutes off the bench, he's still playing the same number of minutes you're proposing.

If Reece comes in off the bench after the 1st media tv timeout he's probably going to be our #3 scoring option. If he starts, he's going to be the #5 option. Riak being an offensive liability isn't that big of a deal when we have the big 4 (Xeyrius, Cheese, LCJ, and Banks) on the floor. He becomes more exposed when he has to share the court with multiple members of the freshmen 3.

Riak is making some good defensive plays/stops.  He redirected a few if their lay ups.

On another note, what a lame crowd for an ESPNU game.  Zips sucked the life out of that arena.  CMU likely gets more fans to their women's games.  And those announcers sounded like two guys watching the game at a bar.  Jackie Windon is a treasure
