  1. careful what you wish for. In 2010, I thought Zips had it in the bag when Groce and the #9 seed Kittens took out #1 seed PCCC in the quarterfinals...
  2. I think losing those games caused the collapse.
  3. I guess the line moved to -1 in favor of the Zips. Whatever. Zips are the underdogs for this tournament. Hopefully, they catch everyone by surprise. Glad it's not the 11am game.
  4. The NIT is only inviting 16 teams. Runner up may not get the call even if it is Toledo.
  5. Odds for the game: It's a toss up! Bowling Green (14-10, 10-8 MAC) Akron (14-7, 12-6 MAC) Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Cleveland, OH Line: EVEN O/U: 153
  6. That's some serious negative energy coming from their board. Tomorrow we pit Groce's success v BG's failure.
  7. MAC awards LCJ First Team MAC Trimble H.M. Freeman all defensive team.
  8. And not to dispel the myth but the OU 2010 team was mediocre on paper and just came out of nowhere. 2012 was a 3rd seed. The accomplishment was getting those NCAA tourney wins...and the 2012 draw was...well...not at all like the gauntlet Buffalo had to run when it reached the Dance. But if any coach can motivate them he can.
  9. Some good stuff at then end about the recruits. That 6'5 guard from Lakota is something we haven't had on a Zips roster since I can remember.
  10. Not like we are coming off two big wins over our biggest rivals OU an PCCC heading into this. Zips are limping in. Unfortunately, in Groce's 4 years he hasn't had the true opportunity to make a tournament run. (2 because of COVID and 2 because he didn't have the players).
  11. Looking at the message boards for the other schools, it's the same. Nothing much on Toledo's board. Kittens are worried about something or other. BG...unhappy with the world. Ball State they hate Whitford. PCCC delusional. Buffalo misses Oates. All disconnected. What coach can get his seniors motivated? I doubt many of them will be coming back to their respective schools with the world opening up and lots of opportunities in Europe. Do you want to stay another year in Bowling Green or Toledo or Akron when you could be in France or Sweden making $ and seeing the world. Jimond Ivey is in Luxembourg! Utomi is in Finland!
  12. Murphy is in the last year of his contract. Mark Montgomery was also in his 10th year.
  13. Rob seems like a good guy but his formula isn't working. That style of play won't put any butts in the empty arena in Ypsilanti
  14. I thought the Zips had the inside access to WV players. Looks like the BGSU administration will have their minds on something other that basketball this week: https://www.thedailybeast.com/20-year-old-bowling-green-sophomore-stone-foltz-on-life-support-after-deathly-hazing-incident
  15. This is hard to watch, but we will be back next year and will appreciate the Zips even more. (Stumble upon this. Usually, can't find replay of CBS games). Ugh. With 3.9 seconds left LCJ pushes Santiago and could have been called for a foul or was it a flop. Yikes
  16. Well, then he should just be honest about it. I think we all remember after the final game last year he said that the game wasn't that important, etc, even though he looked like he was trying very hard to win.
  17. Kent deliberately threw that game by sitting Pippen. They hope Ohio U can't play and they get a first round walk.
  18. Well, Pinky is tanking his last game by not playing Pippen. So looks like Grover Cleveland U on Zips side of bracket.
  19. Wasn't an inspired first half between PCCC and Grover Cleveland State. GCS through up a 3. Missed and rebounded and shot 3 more x. Missed all 3.
  20. And Toledo plays Ball State tonight and turns around and plays them Thursday at Noon. Maybe Buffalo would have an advantage playing Miami? But Miami, as the 12th seed, beat them in first round last year. Groce is 2-2 in the MAC tournament for the Zips. The first year he put the team together on a fly, and I thought they played well in the tourney in 2018 (they beat WMU on the road in a crazy game) but couldn't hold on to it it vs. EMU. In 2019, they easily beat Miami in first round then unfortunately because of some late season losses ran into the unstoppable Buffalo in Cleveland. I like the Zips odds on the neutral court where the Zips got to play earlier this season.
  21. Thank you. Top 8. All are tough. No one is safe
  22. Zips arent in the top 8. How do they get to Cleveland?
