  1. Just got back to the 330. What a nice day. Kinda gut-wrenching at the beginning but then things seemed to relax. X would sure be great to have for another season, but...The shooting acumen has gone waaaay up this season. Boy, does Eastern even know how to play man-to-man D? Glad they didn't but I think we still would have hit a lot of outsiders. This was a nice road game, in that we didn't have to put up with a lot of weird fans, and I don't know if it was @Illini Zip or @clarkwgriswold I think that said earlier that these guys seem to like each other, and that was evident at the Convo. This team seems more like a team than the past two seasons.....
  2. Here, and it's like crickets....My entourage of 3 make up my entire row....
  3. Since it's an early game, if you get there early enough and want a fabulously greasy huge breakfast hit Bomber on Michigan Ave just on outskirts of campus...I'll be there. After game if you want another great early dinner go to Ann Arbor to Paisano's right on Washtenaw. And if you stay later a truly awesome wine bar/restaurant in Ann Arbor called Vinology on Main Street....
  4. Driving up Friday night to see my kids/grandkids and going to this one Saturday after breakfast at The Bomber....son/daughter-in-law haven't been in their arena since their graduations in 2008, 2009. Asked for a sidebet, but they said "Dad, you raised us Zip fans..." awwww ain't it great when the listen ?
  5. LCJ can drive you nuts, but then come through
  6. Coach giveth back with a T for shooting off HIS mouth....
  7. WTF Banks, up 4 and you get a T? Why...stay away from him!
  8. And his girth seemed to be one double cheeseburger away from OL range......?
  9. Since it is December 26th, and we're talking International Leagues - Happy Boxing Day to All the Zips SOC fans! Watching Chelsea v. Southampton right now, looking forward to Man U and Yedlin's Newcastle with my leftover lunch feast, and wash it all down this afternoon as my fellow Kopites and I gather for a pint to watch our beloved Liverpool duel it out in a first v. second match-up with Leicester City. What a GLORIOUS Day it is/will be.....
  10. This should be a nice fit for Alex.....hope so. Hyped pretty hard here as a frosh, but reality didn't match-up. Good luck to him!
  11. They did look good, and so did Buffalo. I went to get carry-out from the Rockne's in Kent during their game, and it was obnoxious in the bar, probably because I forgot I was wearing my Zip's jacket! But while I was watching the team I despise, I had to grudgingly say, good for them, they had a solid season, got to a bowl and got their first bowl win. They deserved it, obviously bought into the coaches system, worked hard and achieved. I mean, Kent State still sucks, but...good for them.
  12. Not casting dispersion on previous recruiting classes or current Zips, but it looks like, from the above bios, that we have a nice class of STUDENT-athletes, lots of good grades and academic honors, which usually translate into less issues off the field, both in the class room and in the community.....
  13. I was talking to one of the North Royalton basketball coaches, and he was saying the kid is strong-like-bull, but he has made noise that he wants to play BOTH football and baseball for the Zips. And the coach said he's a better baseball player. I would doubt to see this happening if coaching staff felt he was a QB answer here. But, track/football guys have done it.
  14. I could have sworn that Bubba carried the ball in 2018, but went back and checked season stats and no record of an attempt. Maybe it was the Spring game that year. But your point is taken.
  15. Getting bad now when we have to explain our use of levity in our posts, huh? ?
  16. @John Ward I'm with you, and by the way, one of those 1-11 seasons the Zips had "back-to-back" was under TB, but hey, I'm sure the excuse will be "but he inherited a terrible team!". Like Arth didn't? And then 4 losing seasons, a 500 season, and an overall record of 35-52, and hey! 23-33 in the MAC...you were being kind calling TB "mediocre". But we've got that glory year where we won the MAC East (not the MAC overall), and a Big 10 win....that's what makes the "outsiders" think is terrific? Keep your sound posts coming...
  17. So, another Zippy Invitational win for the Women swimmers and divers. My takeaways from the long weekend: U of A sports admin was present and counted for for most of the weekend, and Zippy herself was on hand for all three days, all positives after the 2018 Invite. Kudos. It seems Diving has found themselves again after a couple off years. Soph Kami Goodrick (1st) and Junior Andrea Bugariu were excellent at 1 meter and frosh Paige Kalik had a podium finish at 1 meter, and won the 3 meter. Paulina Nogaj continues to show she's national caliber, winning the 200 yard IM, the 100 yard butterfly, the 200 yard freestyle, 200 yard butterfly and was on 3 Zips winning realy teams Morgan Waggoner is the stud sprinter now, as she won the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle Jackie Pash won the 400 yard IM Andrea Fischer won the 100 yard breaststroke the unthinkable - the Zips lost a relay! They lost the 800 yard freestyle relay to Cincinnati Brooke Lamoreaux didn't win but took 2 seconds in the distance freestyles Freshman Weronica Gorecka won the 200 yard backstroke Paula Garcia won the 200 breast, but maybe isn't at here best yet? Sarah Watson is also maybe off-schedule training-wise? Cornell men are beasts, and Oakland was pushed by Cincinnati s well Lots of nice performances from other youngsters
  18. For those who don't think the AKRON Beacon Journal doesn't have an institutional bias against the U of A, how about today's headline on JD.....not Akron grad JD but Canton McKinley grad JD sign with Dolphins....happy as all get out for JD though...
  19. Still fun to go to Avon, even if Zips not playing. Great venue, fun town, MAC B-ball ain't bad either.
