  1. Really? Do you think this means anything? They haven't even practiced yet, camp starts next week, there will be changes once the pads go on & everyone knows DL is an issue, we can't even go 3 deep at all positions, maybe some of our unused tight ends can help fill voids, idk but hopefully they figure something out, the DL is concerning
  2. And I want to see a bunch of positive stuff on here, momentum & believing go a long ways, I can't wait to see the players believe
  3. From what I'm hearing, a healthy Ball will go a long way to helping this team succeed, run - pass % should be balanced this year if he can handle the workload
  4. I wish we had better coverage of team, more hype & information could only help in the grand scheme of things i sent DM to moderators because just a rumor, I really don't know & im fairly new to ZN & don't know how much info they have or how close they are they didn't respond so it is just that a rumor, hopefully I am wrong
  5. I have heard rumor King & Jest had to go Juco & Bell should be available just being disciplined, not sure if accurate i agree our defense should be better this year, not good enough to beat Penn State, & hopefully a healthy Ball & a more balanced offense & IMO more competitive this year
  6. Johns started spring semester, the rest of new players reported in early June. Freshman have to live in dorms (they are in them already for summer stuff) & after your freshman year you can live in house just off campus. NCAA schollies have changed significantly, Freshman & players who live in dorm have all expenses covered for education, room & board & food plus a few hundred a month for other expenses. If you elect after your freshman year to live off campus you lose the room & board & food part of your schollie & instead of a few hundred a month for expenses you get a little over 1k a month for your expenses. Hope that answers your ? They did 3 weeks of conditioning & lifting in June. I don't think coaches are allowed to coach during this time but coach Sleeve & his group work them pretty hard & from my understanding the upperclassmen lead drills on the football field. They are in summer 1 classes, they were off the football grind last week & returned this week. This week is the last week of summer 1 classes. In August camp starts & it is an all day job. i know some of the local players from coaching in area and always ask a bunch of ?'s when I see them around.
  7. When I told them, none of them knew they where paying to be D1 in their tuition, I'm hoping I have convinced my sons group of friends to start going, I may be bringing a camper & becoming a cook on the grill for them but hopefully they can make it grow
  8. It's one of the reasons I try an appeal to the wallet. Get your friends to go, get attendance up so school doesn't have to buy tickets to reach D1 standards & save yourself $1,100 dollars a year. Go, it's free, have fun & create a culture that it becomes the standard
  9. I have 2 kids going to Akron, every time there is 20 or 30 kids over here for a big game or bomb fire I preach they are charging everyone of you $1,100 dollars a year to pay for the tickets to achieve minimum standards to stay D1, you get in free with Zips card so round up your friends & go. I think I am donating a 30 foot camper to start their group to start tailgating & hopefully it grows To me the way to grow attendance is through the student base. The University has done its part with great facilities. Now how do we get students to go enjoy the day. Get the student base up & the environment gets more exciting & word gets out about crowds & excitement others will come. All you here is people complain about attendance. I know everyone is going to laugh but instead of bitching when you talk to someone tell them what a great stadium & experience, you really need to go instead of it's a shame, what great facilities & only 5k in attendance, I know people who go tailgate & never go to games, so team needs to help as well I want to see my alma mater succeed, let's spread good news instead of negativity
  10. I saw Dusty Burkhart at Tusky Valley Invitational, he looks like he is putting time in the gym. He won all 4 of his events & was Invitational MVP https://twitter.com/gohardburkhart/status/859075103228866560
  11. In my opinion he did well, I didn't think he looked like a wide receiver. He had some hand issues (minor), didn't adjust well to some of the balls in the air i watched the the whole thing (all positions) looked a little tight & not quick for a receiver Add 30 lbs. & IMO he makes a GOOD tight end

  13. Zips Football just tweeted something for Jerome
  14. It's a bad joke, the person could be a moron as well and maybe they didn't know but it seems like they got poked at & they poked back
  15. I could be wrong but it sounds like some education person is playing with him
  16. That's what kind of makes the joke, from Akron but didn't go to Akron U, went to Pitt but St V might have something to say cause he did go there, again a bad joke
  17. It's a joke, just by saying Pitt, agreed a bad one
  18. Those are not combine measurements therefore the asterisk, they will update as they do them, those are given measurements pre combine
  19. But from a MAC/ESPN schedule perspective 1. They have to fill that Tuesday with a game 2. I could be wrong but my guess we are probably one of the biggest commuter schools in the MAC 3. I think we have as good of a chance as anyone coming out of East & I'm not saying that as a good thing 4. Playing our arch rival for a possible trip to Detroit, the Wagon Wheel 5. Closest schools in proximity, possible best attendance based on that alone & possibly of other games they could have put on that night Doesn't do Akron any favors but probably best chose for MAC/ESPN
  20. I'm new here & new to supporting Akron Football Is everyone saying if we are playing for a MAC championship & a trip to Detroit that no one will be there? If we suck like we did down the stretch last year I understand staying home & watching on TV, happened to the Browns last year, that's part of it, give your fans a reason to come Sounds like we are writing the season off or no matter what the team does no one is showing up I'm new, tell me
  21. I think Suggs is going to be a good one but he needs to redshirt, he is 170 lbs, let him dedicate a year to changing his body & then let him loose
  22. Don't forget Deltron Sands, the transfer from Oregon State, Suggs needs time to fill out to a D1 running back size IMO
  23. Article in Suburbanite about recruits http://www.thesuburbanite.com/sports/20170208/burkhart-among-local-heavy-akron-recruiting-class
  24. Posted he had surgery On 1/26/2017 at 3:59 PM, zippy5 said: None of the 4 road MAC games are gimmies I don't think any of them are gimmes Offense we had starting QB & RB injuries 2/3 of WR core turn over, lost best OL defense whole d line got hurt for most part, may have lost a LB & both corners good news, Woodson should return healthy after surgery, looks like Ball is gonna get another year & will see if anyone steps up at WR (IMO Chapman becomes slot with all new QB's) hopefully Boxen returns strong, need some D-lineman to step up & I think we have a better LB coming in this year from Pitt after sitting last year & maybe move Davis to a CB as safeties should be ok with everyone healthy we we have a lot of work to do
