  1. Wonder if anyone saw this or reported it? If it's old news, my apologies: May 25th PrepScouting (NCAA) @highmajorscoop 5th year Fork Union Prep & Canton Mckinley hooper LePear Toles has decommitted from Robert Morris. Reportedly made too quick of a Decision
  2. Apparently so......the kid looks like a backcourt baller with length. Max Preps shows him as 6'4 202. Don't know about he level of competition he played against but one service shows him as the 8th best in his position in PA. I think he is originally from Youngstown so family support is just up the road I would guess.
  3. NextUpRecruits‏ @NextUpRecruits Apr 19 2017 First Love Christian (PA) G David Collins will take an official visit to Akron this weekend. @Dcloading Adam Zagoria‏ @AdamZagoria Apr 19 2017 G David Collins will take an official visit to Akron this weekend @Dcloading Go JG. Go Zips!!
  4. I guess it's all experiential. I am sure some folks liked him. I know people who didn't care for his personality. I had very limited contact with him so I can't speak to how he was universally perceived around UA or the community. Perhaps he developed a siege mentality as the losses piled up. I really don't wish him ill. I just want UA to somehow avert such doomed hires in the future. That said, I will resent what he did to the program for a long time.
  5. And I really hesitated even posting the link. I just felt compelled, however, because I thought it was rather hilarious (IF you can find any humor in the sordid mess that follows him). I think that, collectively, as a University, the sooner we can forget about this guy's tenure, the better. I am sure he also sees the writing on the wall in Lawrence at KU and knows his days are numbered. I also agree with several of you. Honestly, you'd have to work really hard at doing as poorly as he did here. Good riddance.....I am hopeful that he will be forever mired in ignominy. He really turned some talented young men into misererable cynics about a sport and, perhaps, a University they cared about. Go Zips!!
  6. http://kfgo.com/blogs/so-many-opinions-so-...d-coaching-job/ Apparently, according to this report, he has applied for their vacant North Dakota University Head Coaching position. I am wondering if he saw ND and was confused and thought he was ready to head to South Bend. Go Zips!
  7. I received the letter but I was so disheartened by the season and the circumstance, I read it and discarded it as rather disingenuous. I felt as if they (UA football and the AD) HAD to say something--that will not translate, in my view, into a change of methodology in the future. I challenge them to turn this thing around. And I think that the collective attrition by players during the season placed the team at a complete disadvantage--and that is a function of the coach and his demeanor. Anyone can write a letter of contrition--I believe it was more intended to sell us all on renewal of tickets. I hope I am wrong here but I am completely underwhelmed by our coach and the future ahead. Prove me wrong, coach. Go Zips!!
  8. Stan Hywet was a great place to go to watch a Zips soccer game back in the early 60s. My first ever UA soccer experience was UA playing tOSU on Stan Hywet's "front yard" in the 60's. My recollection was that Akron took it to 'em. Go Zips.
  9. I guess I missed seeing him play -- both when Akron played here in 1991, and the previous year when Huggy brought the Bearcats to Hawaii. Where does he work as a TV analyst -- what network? If you page down, you will note that Mike Waddell serves on the same Board with AB. Go Zips!! AB does color commentary for the Bearcats sports. Watching a replay of the Bearcats/Zips game coverage from 8-or-so years ago, I laughed out loud at his commentary after Bryan Hipsher got absolutely destroyed by a 6' 9", 270 lb UC player on a layup attempt -- "That kid has absolutely NO business being out on the floor against these guys!" Funny story #2 from that game - The Zips went up 2-0 to begin the game. I began chanting "OH-VER-RAY-TED" in the stands. The Bearcat fans looked at be like I was nuts. I said - "Hey, I gotta get it in while I can!" I think the next time the Zips scored, we cut the Bearcat lead down to... 22-4. I knew what I was doing. Was that the game in Cincinnati (2003-04) where we were taken to the 'shed by the 'cats? If so, I was in the stands and man that was a painful evening. Worse, I sat next to my niece (a UC grad) who gloated all night. If I recall, Hollingsworth was expected to really compete that night (he was from the Cincy vicinity if I am correct--and struggled along with the rest of the Zips). Ahh memories!! Go Zips!!

  11. Does anyone know if some of the older residence halls(Gallucci, Grant) will be replaced or is this just purely new construction. Either way, this is a pretty substantial increase in residence space. I think they remodeled those residence halls within the last 10 years. I'd be a little surprised if they razed them and started over now. The Grant Street residences is almost 40 years old and needs major upgrades which would be too costly to pursue. The plan is to raze Gallucci, the Grant Street residences and the townhomes and move Greenleaf (the family services agency currently fronting on Exchange). The entire block and the Gallucci site will be transformed. This will occur starting in 2011 and be complete (at least scheduled to be) by 2015. South of that will be the new private development, Envision Apartments, currently under major renovation which will add another 300 beds to the mix starting in January, 2011. The wonderful thing for the university is that they will have little or no cash outlay--just a land lease, in essence to the developers who will finance the entire project. Win-win for everyone!!

  13. New recruit reported for the O-line for the 2011 season from Avon Lake http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=9&a...714&yr=2011 Go Zips!
  14. Just when in the hell were you dating my ex-wife???
  15. And yet, the odds suggest that IU would have done no better, so no reason for us to squelch our confidence for tomorrow. Evenly matched teams but we get the edge with home field advantage. Go Zips!http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/oddsHomefield advantage!!!!I love actually being able to say that now.Yes. We fear Circumcision stadium. IU 42 Zippers 3 (no QB means your hope for a respectable score is over)Hey you guys are just a juggernaut. What is your road win streak up to now? Oh, sorry, my error----I guess it is 7 losses in a row and soon to be 8. You guys used to be tough in basketball and soccer. Kelvin Sampson was one hell of a coach until he arrived in Loser-land. Sorry for your situation. Have a nice ride back to Indy today in your depressed and saddened state of mind. Today (as in last night's soccer game)--Akron OWNS Indiana."Indiana wants you, Lord I can't go back there".Go Zips!!
