  1. If you look closely at the minutes played yesterday….Just kidding! I love going to BG for hoops. Haven’t seen a loss on their campus in a decade! The only place that the ZipsWin! jinx does not apply.... Their gymnasium still blows. It has to be the worst designed “new” arena ever built. Glad to see 300 BG students showed up and 250 left at halftime. Spacing- I couldn’t agree more. When my daughter was learning to drive, I reminded her daily that spacing on the road is the only place where it is more important than on a basketball court, so pay attention. Yesterday, I thought the first half was a pretty good display of spacing. Reggie hitting threes, Q driving and making short jumpers, everyone else hustling. As mentioned here, the second half was too much half court into Tree facing a triple team, hence the five turnovers... If we can get the right mix of Q on the perimeter driving and Tree down low, I like our chances, three-point bank shots and all....
  2. So, can anyone name all of the greyshirts, transfers and other commits that total 24. 13 new recruits 1 open 10 ? TB did mention (with JZ's help) 3 or 4. Who are the other 6?
  3. +1 Dude has rendered ZNO a waste of time for me and many others. I thought I heard the knitting group calling.....
  4. Harney's defense on UT's guards will be the difference in the game!!!
  5. So are there any local restaurants opening up early for a pregame cold one? Euro Gyro opens at 10:30.
  6. Just back from OU... OU fans BLOW...aka the Blow Zone. Sure they show up which I give them props. But they are a bunch of crybaby wanna be osu fans with the OHIO chant. Go away! It's amazing that with every obvious walk or foul on OU the place complains like a bunch of babies..but when the same thing happened to the Zips they all go crazy. Watch the game. Believe it or not, even OU commits fouls and turn it over. Deal with it! Stop complaining!
  7. Agree. What a waste of what some are saying is the second best football player ever at that school and the best all-around athlete ever.
  8. Thanks. When I get my 2 downs and 9 seconds back from the big ten, I will rewatch. Until then, I trust your analysis.
  9. Or his keyboard got locked up accidentally. But then again, when you post every five minutes who knows what happened.
  10. Baloney- But keep typing my man. Playing a bunch of guys doesn't give you depth. It may give you a loss, but not depth. Playing a bunch of guys that can contribute will give you depth.
  11. Really? Five on Five in the second half was much better than three on five in the first half.
  12. Be careful for what you wish for or think is better! With an 8-team playoff, you honks will need to win 3 games against very good competition. When was the last decade you played three very good teams in one season, let alone in a four-week time span.
  13. A simple solution to this thread would be to permanently have the posts of Legend, LZip, Buckzip and DFG all get routed to either the trash or an OSU site. Bragging about the SEC has zero impact on the Zips or the MAC. Likewise, I have no idea how a better big-ten helps the Zips! What I want is for players to realize they can come to UA and play immediately...over shitty teams like Iowa IU and Illinois, etc... And yes, I will continue to take shots at OSU fans posting on a Zips message board. Root for them all you want..just take it elsewhere. That 3-loss SEC along with four others in the SEC would have gone undefeated with OSU's schedule. Likewise, OSU playing any of the SEC schedules would have 3 losses. The hardest game OSU had this year was vs. Northwestern...and they went 1-7 in conference. Laughable. My stance has been the same for 30 years. It's all about scheduling. Pick the best teams playing the hardest schedules. And if OSU would qualify, so be it. But they don't, and rarely do with the easy schedules. Ohioans love the computer rankings for high school football. When it comes to the various computer rankings for college football, reality sets in. The Sagarin rating has OSU 7th-where they belong. They also have that 2-loss Oregon team in the top 5 due to a harder schedule....I could go on....As for NIU, they are rated 20 something I think.....but their SOS is 134. I love the 4-team playoff- (as long as SOS is a main factor). Too bad we don't have it this year!
  14. 1.) We are in competition with tosu. For dollars, respect and if we can steal even one player from tosu maybe the NIU and UM games are wins and we go bowling. It matters! 2.) That 2-loss ASU team and that 3-loss LSU team would roll tosu. ASU probably has two losses because the schedule they played this year is the 4th hardest in the nation. LSU's stands at 27. 3.) As for MSU, they blow. 4.) You can take your insightful comments along with typy-typerson and find a board that appreciates a bunch of nothing.
  15. This is where your idea of a BCS division (playing only each other) and Non-BCS division (playing only each other) is halted. At least for the next 5-7 years, if not longer. While I find the idea intriguing for the Zips to have a chance to play every weekend with a realistic chance to win, good luck finding enough BCS level schools who will be willing to go 3-9 every year at the hands of the upper tier teams. Eventually IU and Vandy and about 30 others will get tired of losing. The BCS schools will continue to find a way to make sure there are enough winnable games on their schedules (by playing non-BCS schools) while keeping more and more of the money for themselves. So while it is a clever idea, the BCS schools at large will not let us break apart.
  16. You can add a variable to the equation: Good team + bad conference + horrid occ schedule = BCS Champioship game vs. a team playing without it's starting QB. Gene Smith is a genius.
  17. Playing easy schedules for decades made many years of success possible. Just ask the Browns. Difficult schedules year in and year out have the Browns nowhere even approaching the .500 mark and what do you know, NE Ohio is flooded with Steeler fans. We can talk about recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. Winning in college football is scheduling, scheduling, scheduling....
  18. My hats off to the AK-Rowdies. There were 43 Rowdies who devoted their entire Sunday on an 8-hour bus ride to Marquette to support the Zips, returning back at the JAR at 5:15AM. The Rowdies were absolutely tremendous in their support of the Zips on Sunday evening. They were fabulous! Their support, school pride and constant cheering was a treat for this old-timer. A big THANK YOU for supporting our Zips.
  19. And on what planet is there another conference that the Zips can compete for championships in?
  20. It was that superior leadership from the MAC commish that got us this wonderful seed. Now, if it was NIU football, he would be all over it!!!
  21. Did anyone see Belmont vs. NC yesterday? Very impressive- have a big lead, lose it, then come back and execute a perfect last 1.5 minutes. I cant wait for the Zips to duplicate that performance.
  22. I couldn't disagree more! Screw the moron of a commissioner we have. I am tired of getting screwed with the schedule. NIU gets an easy schedule every year so they can make a BCS bowl. I was pissed last year, but didn't complain too much. Now that we got screwed again, I am done with this d-bag. And I am off the NIU win one for the MAC bandwagon as well. Tired of getting NIU, Ball State and Toledo while NIU gets a cakewalk. Have a rotation and make the schedules fair. Think if we get EMU, CMU and WMU instead this year and we have a commish that would stand up to the big10 after we get screwed the 2 downs and 9 seconds in the shit house, who knows where this team might be. Tired of getting walked all over. Someone needs to stand up for the Zips for once and tell the dude where to go.
  23. Wow! Talk about hitting the panic button early! In no way, shape or form would I move QD to the point. To say I completely disagree with this post is an understatement. While I clearly see we are struggling at the point, to compare NE to AA at this point is unfair. Even Alex struggled early on. Yes, Q is a capable passer. But to say he can handle the ball under duress better than Evans is a stretch. In fact, even CB can handle the ball on the perimeter. What we need is a distributor in the paint and no way do I see Q doing this effectively after having to handle the ball through pressure for 20-30 seconds every possession. Keep him on the wing making passes, drives or shots. Do not make him the point. Here is what I do. Q, Tree and Harney (if healthy) need to understand that they need to be ready to play 30 minutes a game. We have plenty of time over the next month to get in shape if need be. Like football, the motto needs to be -Faster, Faster, Faster. Evans needs to be named the point guard for the remaining non-conference schedule. In fact he needs to understand that he will play the first nine minutes of each half, take a 2 minute break and then be back in. So, do not pick up any perimeter touch fouls. CB gets 4 minutes per game. DI4 needs to move to CB on the football team. (not my idea, but I agree with it) Wasting seven precious minutes per game is an issue. It’s like wasting second half timeouts in football. Maddening… Pat, Big Dog, Kwan, Reggie and Jake get the other minutes. If Gladden or Jackson can help win even one game, then play them. We need to win now! Faster, faster, faster.
