  1. I don't know if this is true. Lack of opportunity for whatever reason, but Harris shot 42% from 3 in conference play (50% overall from the field) and Wilson is a 35%+ 3P shooter. These guys aren't facing Big 12 competition on a regular basis anymore, and Groce has a proven track record of getting guys into positions to succeed. It might be a slower start due to chemistry issues, but come March I think we'll be one of the strongest Zips teams Groce has had yet.
  2. Read the comments. We're gonna have a good number of bandwagon fans from WV. Welcome aboard!
  3. Young/Tavari Wilson/Scott Nate/Prather Harris/Baker/MMK Okonkwo/Lyles Redshirts: Brisco, Mahafey See y'all on Selection Sunday while we await our 11/6 matchup.
  4. A few WVU fans on Twitter are interested in coming to Akron games next year. They love that these 3 are teaming back up at Akron along with Sharron Young.
  5. To the place... I belong... AKRON OHIO! FROM WEST VIRGINIA! TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS!
  6. This whole rebuild is being done around Sharron, in case anyone is wondering what the coaches' expectations are for Sharron.
  7. That was PCCC level creative. It was... "special". North Virginia Zips would've been better. Sheesh 😂
  8. What the hell type of cardinal directions are taught in Illinois? 🤣
  9. In all seriousness, Josiah Harris is exactly the missing piece we needed after the first 2 transfer commitments. MASSIVE OFF SEASON!!!!!! LET'S GO ZIPS!!!!
  10. Safe to assume Jalen Sullinger isn't returning? This kid is 5'11" and played a lot as a freshman - 33 games, 22 minutes per game. 35.7% 3P and 79.2% FT. Looks a lot like Sullinger's replacement.
  11. This is the sense I get as well. He could be the next great MAC guard. That's why I think it's so important to land these WVU recruits. Coach Rob is a West Virginia icon for recruiting with his roots being Huntington Prep. Make Akron feel like home and hopefully we keep him for more than 1 year.
  12. That looks so good already with one scholly left. Wow. Obviously guys like Prather, Nate, Tavari, and Scott need to take the next steps, but this roster is so much better already with those 2 P5 additions.
  13. Everyone is saying we need a shooter/stretch 4. Give me Josiah.
  14. To the Debbie Downer thread with ya. Off you go! 😂
  15. Professional Zip lied... Verbal Commits is lying... Can't trust anything anymore.
  16. I'd prefer Josiah - from Canton and we'd have him for 2 years vs 1. Both would be great. One way to bypass the Portal struggles of chemistry? Just get past teammates to transfer in. 😂 Edit: If this is accurate information, it's most likely Josiah Harris. According to Verbal Commits, Pat is not in the Portal.
  17. I don't care about high school rankings. These guys spent 3 years in highly competitive programs, training and learning how to win the right way. Both were taught by Huggins for the first 2 years of their collegiate careers - that's worth a lot. Huggins preaches hard-nosed, tough basketball. Seth Wilson stayed after Huggins was fired and averaged 17 minutes per game. He can shoot - great form. Why he didn't score more? No idea, but the form is there and he'll have plenty of opportunities this year if he chooses Akron. Okonkwo left after Huggins was fired and UNC wanted him. He went toe to toe with the ACC for a year, and against Bacot every day in practice. He has more film from his time at WVU, and he is a pleasure to watch. Very Freeman-esque from a positioning and motor standpoint. Doesn't have the outside shot but he would be a menace in the MAC. Xeryius Williams was barely more productive at Dayton prior to coming to Akron. Was he a failure? Duvivier was maybe slightly more productive at Oregon State - maybe - and was awesome for Groce in his first year. Forgive me if I'm missing any other examples, but on the "failure" side, I can only think of Maishe. More often than not, those who spend time in winning programs will be able to be more productive in the MAC. Should these guys choose to commit to Akron, I have zero doubts they'll find success here.
