  1. ^^Okay, good! I'm glad I was reading too much into just a couple comments. And LZip, you're right, when I went back to quote the comments which led me to think the team wasn't getting along as well, there really weren't many at all.

Here are the quotes that had me a little concerned:

GoZips wrote: "It is a team of brothers; not a team of others. Love one another and end the squabbling."

GoZips is pretty close to the program, so that sentence made these next two stand out to me:

Clark Griswold wrote: "The biggest threat is the common attitude of today's college athlete." As I read that again, Clark's obviously not specifically referring to this year's Zips team chemistry.

And then taxpayer wrote: "Zips - discipline. To reach their potential the Zips need to share the ball better and live for we not me."

I just over reacted. I think I've just grown accustomed to nothing but bad news over the last month. Lol.

  2. RubberDucks enjoy record attendance.

UA Athletics needs to learn from the RubberDucks. I took a group to the RubberDucks game last Friday night & Canal Park was absolutely packed & buzzing. Everyone had a great time. The fireworks following the game were top shelf. My group ticket sales rep, Jeremy, is the most polite and conscientious sales rep I've ever dealt with - always staying in touch without being pushy - quite an art really; follow-up emails inquiring if we had a good time & if they could do anything to improve our experience; RubberDucks employees walking around Canal Park during the 8th inning simply thanking people for supporting the team.

Good grief. I could go on and on. Get with it, UA.

  3. Hey fellas, I'm wanting to put together a group outing to a Zips football game this year. It's been a while since I've done this. The last group outing I put together was in 2010 (wow, has it been that long?) when the Zips got absolutely annihilated by Northern Illinois 50-14. I had a group of around 60 who attended, however it was unseasonably cold, rained all night, and the game was your typical, literally unwatchable, Ianello abomination. I felt humiliated.

I guess it's taken me 5 years to get over that. People had an absolutely awful time.

So, anyway, I'm looking for some opinions. I want to either bring a group to the Pitt game on September 12, or to the Ohio game on October 3.

Which do you think will be a better game? More fun for Zips newbies?

Once bitten, twice shy. I've got a couple fears either way, but I don't want to bias your $0.02. What would you guys do?

  4. This is great news. Up 25 pounds since his surgery? Wow! He's got his adult body now.

I also can't wait to see Antino, as GoZips reported he's put on a lot of muscle as well.

And wait till you guys see Josh Williams. He and Noah's games are strikingly similar.

  5. I almost posted this under "Scarborough's Next Move" but thought this culturally significant enough that it deserved it's own thread. UA's EJ Thomas Hall is going to cease producing shows. Acts can still rent EJ on their own, but the U is ceasing bringing in shows on their own.

Scarborough's had to make a lot of tough decisions. I'm happy neither about this nor about the baseball team. But I definitely respect the guy. He's not afraid to be the man.

Harter finished his senior year with 19 goals and 18 assists, and is ready to attend UA.

“It is awesome because I don’t have to relocate at all,” Harter said. “I have all of my friends here, and I will make new ones. I will not need to pick a new church. I can continue to go to my church, which is really important to me.

“It is pretty cool to have the best Division I program in the country just 15 minutes away. I am super excited to get started. Akron gets great players from all over, and the program produces so many great players. I want to continue to challenge myself and get to that next level and see how good of a soccer player I can be.”

  7. That's what one says to separate himself from the blunders of others. We all know that building the stadium was not the problem. iCoach, 1-11 3 years in a row, weeknight MAC games. Fans and alumni can only take so much.

President Scarborough should be spending his time talking about his plan to make the most of that stadium rather than what he wouldn't have done. Monday morning quarterbacking does no one any good.

Not only were the 1-11 records a disaster, but the way we lost literally made the games unwatchable. Remember (I'm sorry to do this to Zips fans) 2011?

    L Ohio State 42-0

    L Temple 41-3

    L Cincinnati 59-14 (wasn't it 59-0 at halftime?)

    L Miami 35-3

    L Can't State 35-3

    L Buffalo 51-10

    L Western Michigan 68-19

  8. Baddleys dad has much higher aspirations for his son than the MAC.

I'm still upset that there is absolutely zero mention online about the Zips recruiting Henry Baddley. He's an athletic freak right in our own backyard and now Buffalo and Ohio have both offered him, along with the offers he already holds from Toledo & Middle Tennessee State. His dad may have higher aspirations than the MAC, but on Henry's twitter feed, he seems genuinely proud to be receiving these offers. Hilltopper, or anyone, do you know if the Zips are going after Henry and there just, for some reason, has been absolutely no mention of it on any of the recruiting websites or twitter?
