  1. Your choices seem a tad thin on positive possibilities.
  2. I respectfully disagree. Our efforts have been in building facilities assuming they would lead to winning. Nobody ever said, "How fast will this new stadium run the 40 yard dash?" or "Can the field actually catch a ball?" What we haven't invested in is the support staff to recruit and retain at risk kids who are extremely talented. There has been some increase, but not enough. When JD got bit by issues such as this, he retreated to what Faust did and brought in less talented players. No one may have asked these questions, but we certainly know the answer to the second one by now. The field can catch most of the balls thrown by our QB. The answer to the first question may not be as obvious, but if you include the rotation of the Earth, the answer is "pretty darn fast".
  3. The pessimism on this board is infectious and has definitely tempered my normal enthusiasm. The Zips will win by no more than 14.
  4. I think there has to be some mega-athletic HS QB that BCS schools are slotting to be a safety or WR...but who really wants to be a college QB. These kinds of kids have a great chance to be successful in the MAC. If we choose a JUCO, so be it. But I would also not rule out an "athlete" at the position. It could make the Zips competitive just as quickly, and not just for 1 or 2 seasons. If Ianello can't get a couple impact WR's for 2011, we will need a QB that can make plays on his own. Obviously, Nicely has a lot better chance for success if we get some real WR's too. WR's gotta be the primary focus for recruiting right now. I agree that we need more WR, but I can't think of any position that we are strong at. The d-line is a huge concern for me. Yes, we have depth today, but most of them are juniors. We have no separation in elegibility. In 2 years we will be starting an all freshman DL or close to it. Bowers leaving is bad. He looked like a future stud. Hopefully Alexander returns to form next year. We may already have the QB in Potts and D'Orazio(sp) that you are talking about. Thin at LB, thin at safety, thin at OL and DL. I don't care how good of a recruiter coach I supposedly is. If the team keeps playing like this, nobody will want to come here. To recruit you have to win. To win you have to have good recruits. It's the chicken and the egg logic. I have to go with Buck on this one. We must simply have more separation in elegibility. Having no separation in elegibility is unacceptable.
  5. Anyone else struggling to figure out why Quick thinks this is the basketball forum???
  6. Zach, u should really start comments like this one with "Once upon a time...."
  7. I don't know, but at your urging I joined 686 other folks who did. We still have a way to go to pass the throng looking forward to the Bethune contest.
  8. When is the MAC going to quit letting teams use them? Navy is in the MAC for rifle, BUT nothing else!!! If we aren't good enough for their football, basketball and club baseball teams then I say let their rifle team go pound gun powder. Sorry for the rant. These things just get to me after a while.
  9. I'm with you Root. Just cause we are 16.5 point dogs is no reason we shouldn't win by 14.
  10. Other teams are to blame because they recruit and sign bigger, faster, stronger players.
  11. Actually, that was Zip Watcher, just look in his signature block, all three charter members are still proudly displayed there. I'm not sure Zipmeister knows that people root for things, unless it is a presented opportunity for sarcasm or being a smart-ass. There is NO WAY I would start such a list. In fact, I'm pretty sure that irregularities with our fist five opponents will come to light shortly resulting in forfeit wins for the Zips. I'm still predicting we go 12 and 0 during the regular season.
  12. Hey, at least we are running the free-flicker play. I have yet to see a receiver run the hook and later route nor have I seen the Zips attempt a half black option.
  13. One positive: The ability of this right-hander to throw when rolling left is impressive. Two negatives: Didn't see him take too many snaps from under center. Our coaching staff could have him all messed up within a season. He is too slow; it takes 6:50 to show his highlights. We could show PN's highlights much more quickly.
  14. When is the rifle team intrasquad match for the 2010 season? Will it be open to the public?
  15. When is the rifle team intrasquad match for the 2010 season? Will it be open to the public?
  16. You're crazy. Look for a match up with either Delaware State or Jacksonville State.
  17. Thanks for posting my thoughts from earlier this year, only with more detail added. There is no Brett Biggs on this team. Everyone is from this program and used to the losing. It was Biggs first year at UofA and the chronic losing had not taken hold yet. So GP1, by your logic, all the Freshmen and first-year starters are already used to losing because the Zips have not won yet? Don't we have something like 16 or 17 returning starters from last year. If two kids are playing on a playground, one good and one bad. Is the good kid more likely to become bad or the bad kid more likely to become good. In almost every case, the good kid becomes bad because it is easy to be bad. Losing is the bad kid. Good kids get around it and it is difficult to keep the good kid from becoming a loser. It happens very quickly. You do not specify, but I assume that if Losing is the bad kid in your story, Winning is the good kid. So what is the "it" good kids are getting around? Is this a different "it" than the "it" that happens very quickly? This could have been a good story, but it seems to have turned bad. I love talking sports.
  18. It's got to be awful being suspended when the team isn't even practicing yet. If the NFL/Steelers had thought of this Ben wouldn't have had to miss a game.
  19. Never, ever, visit Happy Valley and not visit the Creamery. PSU has a college of Ice Cream. At the Creamery you can buy fresh made ice cream. PSU students make the fantastic concoction beginning right from on campus cows. Many believe this is the most important contribution made by PSU cheerleaders.
  20. Call me crazy, but I think we'll see a couple in the next recruiting class. And "yes" I realize I put one on a tee for Zipmeister. Call me incredibly good looking, but I don't understand the penchant of some folks on this board to be publicly denigrated. However, since you insist, you're crazy.
  21. I partly agree with this, I do appreciate having my balls scratched (but I didn't realize it was obvious).
  22. You are a front-runner, a bandwagoner, and a fair-weather fan.
  23. The next to the bottom picture says Bradley. That's it, I,m going with Bradley.
  24. How come you don't win more games by 14 points?
  25. No, No, No. They were undersized way before they did the other three.
