  1. I post this simply for humor's sake...Joe Lunardi took a look at what a 96 team NCAA field might look like. Here's what is funny. Someone forgot to tell Lunardi that Can't lost six seniors and that Bassett is leaving Ohio. Good News...the MAC finally gets two teams in the NCAA Tournament...LoL. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/bracket?id=5071629
  2. This Wednesday vs. Green Bay. http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...TCLID=204908500 AKRON, Ohio – For the third-straight season, the University of Akron men's basketball team will compete in the postseason as the Zips accepted a bid to participated in the 16-team College Basketball Invitational late on Sunday night. Akron (24-10) will play host to Green Bay (21-12) on Wednesday at Rhodes Arena. A tip-off time will be announced on Monday. Akron, which is enjoying its fifth-straight 20-win season, suffered an 81-75 overtime loss to Ohio in Saturday's MAC Tournament championship game. Green Bay fell 62-53 to Detroit in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League Tournament on March 5, and is participating in the CBI for the second-consecutive year. The Phoenix are 4-3 all-time versus the Zips, but the teams have not met since 1992 when the two schools were members of the Mid-Continent Conference. Sunday's announcement marks the first time in its Division I era (dating to the 1980-81 season) that Akron has appeared in a postseason tournament in three-straight seasons. The Zips competed in the 2008 National Invitation Tournament and the 2009 NCAA Tournament. This is also the fourth time in five seasons that UA has participated in the postseason, also being in the 2006 NIT field. The CBI, in its third year of existence, features eight first-round games on Tuesday (March 16) and Wednesday (March 17). All quarterfinal contests will be played on Monday, March 24, with the semifinals to follow two days later. The final two teams will play a best-of-three championship series with games on March 29 and 31 and April 2. Prior to the semifinals, the remaining teams will be re-seeded and the higher-seeded team will host two of the three championship series games. HDNet is the official broadcast home for the CBI and will televise up to eleven of the tournament games, including doubleheaders on March 16, 17, 22, and 24. Wednesday's Akron-Green Bay contest has not been chosen to be televised. For ticket information, please call 1-888-99-AKRON.

  7. ...they expand the NCAA Tournament to 96 teams.I was watching College GameDay today from Duke. The discussion turned to the expansion of the NCAA Tournament. They posted Joe Lunardi's last four in IF the Tournament went to 96 teams. The Zips made it as No. 96. We are joined by Missouri State (No. 93), North Carolina (No. 94), and Arizona (No. 95).Give you an idea of what Joe Lunardi thinks of the Zips.

A loud smack is heard and as the train rides out of the tunnel the Golden Fla shes fan is rubbing his face. The nun thinks: "Serves him right for trying to grab the blonde." The blonde thinks: "Serves him right for trying to grab the nun." The Fla shes fan thinks: "The Zips fan was probably trying to grab the blonde, missed her and grabbed the nun instead. Then she tried to smack him in the face and missed." The Zips fan thinks: "Next tunnel I'm going to smack that stupid Golden Fla shes fan again." A young man hired by a supermarket reported for his first day of work. The manager greeted him with a warm handshake and a smile, gave him a broom, and said, "Your first job will be to sweep out the store." "But I'm a graduate of K ent State," the young man replied indignantly. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that," said the manager. "Here, give me the broom - I'll show you how." A Professor invents an IQ machine that boosts a person's IQ to 300 and then starts counting backward. He connects his wife to it, turns it offat 190, and she starts explaining quantum physics. He tries it out on his brother Bill, turns it off at 175, and Bill starts talking advanced calculus. Then he plugs in his cousin Bob. Just then the phone rings, and it's a telemarketer. By the time he gets back to unplug Bob, the machine is counting down: 14 - 13 - 12. He slams the switch to "off," shakes Bob and screams, "Say something!" and Bob says, "Go K S U!" A K ent State fan was sitting at a table reading the Newspaper, The headline read: "12 Brazilian Soldiers Killed." He shook his head at the sad news, then turned to the man sitting next to him and asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"
  9. Looking at the layout of the schedule just released on GoZips.com, I have to say that I like the layout of the schedule as a whole:- opening with two home games- opening with a "name" school- only one long layoff (11 days)- closing with two home games- nice mix of home and away- Miami back on the scheduleAnyone else have a take on the schedule?
  10. I really don't think it needs much of an introduction, other than I hope they bring this Special Ed kid to our place in two weeks...
  11. If you had taken more than a second to look over my typo, you would have realized that was conference wins, genius. Mens team 14 winswomans team 11 wins.
  12. Anyone ever think in the last few years that at this point of the season that the women's team would have more wins than the men's? LoL. Congrats Coach Kest on a big win and to the Coach Dambrot and the men as well for a big road win.
  13. Wait for it...Buffalo?According to Joe Junardi's Bracketology on ESPN.com today, the Buffalo Bulls would be your Mid-American Conference representative in the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.Uh...Huh? What? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
  14. Kara is actually only 298 points behind the 2nd all-time highest scorer - Pam Arnold - and 466 points behind all-time leading scorer Cheryl Bowles. Right now, Kara is averaging 14.1 points a game and has 15 games left in the regular season. If she just averaged 14.1, it would put her only 86 points behind Arnold and 254 behind Bowles entering Kara's senior season of 2010-2011.Those who are regular followers of Akron women's basketball realize that Kara is capable on a regular basis of going for 20+ a game as she did against Buffalo. #2 on the all-time scoring list is a real possibility for this year.All-time leading scorer? Barring a seriously bad break or tragedy, for Kara - the only question is "when"....
