Any news about possible replacements for women's tennis and softball coaches? I am curious to see candiates especially this late in the year one month and a half before school starts more or less.

Let's be honest here though the Zips are doing well. There are a number of reasons why the Big East will never happen. First, we are no where near being in a major media market. One of their main criteria is media market i.e. Chicago, New York City or at least close to one. I have a good friend that was at DePaul during there transition to the Big East and he was a coach there so he knows what was happening. He stated there is certain things that need to be in place for each team. One thing he mentioned was size of stadiums for all sports. He once told me that the Big East will be split up in a matter of years to an all basketball league and then football/basketball league. Before the move, there were talks of an all-catholic sports league including DePaul, Marquette, St. John's, Villanova, Providence and a couple others, but that obviously fizzled.I can see us maybe one day being in Conference USA as we could probably compete well in basketball and football plus a few other sports. If we moved conferences there is a major problem, the athletic budget would probably have to be tripled, if not doubled. To be honest, I am happy where we are but it would be nice to be playing some big name schools day in and day out.

What about women's tennis. I have heard they have not had a winning season with their current coach in his 7 year tenure.

Coach Kennedy is gone. Who do you think is next to be let go from the Akron coaching ranks? If anyone needs to go.
