  1. Charlie Coles' reaction each time McNees hit a 3 was great...couldn't help but reminisce about Steve's first game vs the Sweaters (six 3-pointers without a miss, if I remember correctly).
  2. No problem on the MLS TV schedule pdf. It was easy enough to share once I created it. No guarantee on it's accuracy, however, since I didn't double-check it. So, you may want to verify it against the schedules at MLSsoccer.com.

  4. Monterrey? I thought it was to be in multiple venues. I'd go if I had a team of bodyguards. Of course, you're correct Z.I.P. I don't know why I said Monterrey. It is in Mexico at multiple venues, and I agree about the bodyguards. US Qualifies for FIFA U-17 World Cup

  10. I wonder if any of Caleb's players (i.e., Zips) are part of that team. Yes CHICAGO (Feb. 8, 2011) – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team roster has been set for a training camp to be held from Feb. 12-20, in Phoenix, Ariz. Head coach Mike Matkovich has called in 36 players, including 26 current Development Academy players and four Development Academy alumni. The U.S. will play friendlies against teams from Major League Soccer that are in the midst of preseason training in Phoenix. Matkovich’s squad has scrimmages set up against Sporting Kansas City and Colorado Rapids on Feb. 15 and Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers four days later. It will be the first training camp of 2011 for the U-18 MNT, which is made up of players born in 1993. There are 15 players that return from the team’s most recent camp, a four-team international tournament in Tel Aviv, Israel, including midfielder Cooper Vandermaas-Peeler, who scored the lone goal in the team’s three games. 11. Cool. Thanks. He should be in good shape by the time SKC visits the Crew on April 16th.
  12. That sucks! A little note from the MLS chat covering the game, prior to Teal's injury: JasonSaghini: Quick chat with Caleb Porter who is down here with the U-18's... Teal stopped by to say hi while were were chatting and his coach told him to "go get a goal" and Teal's response - "I'm going to"
  13. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you meant any disrespect. We definitely have different connotations of "cocky" and "confidence".
  14. Honestly, no. He wanted to win a national championship and play professionally. This is the place to do that. Once he knew that there was mutual interest there was no other place he was going to go. Awesome. I look forward to seeing him play in the Fall.
  15. I didn't take it as being cocky, but rather as a coach who is darn proud (rightfully so) of his players and their determination following the 2009 College Cup, and was ensuring that everyone present knew why the team won and deserved that award.
  16. I agree. Being on the Akron staff last season and at Syracuse for a few seasons prior to that doesn't seem like any kind of positive resume.
  17. The Zips Men's Soccer Team won the College Athlete of the Year at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards. Josh Cribbs won the Professional Athlete of the Year Award.

  19. Nice acceptance speech by Caleb. Also cool that Kenny Lofton presented the award.
  20. Don't know. The trip to Xenia is on the Spring schedule and is a "soccer event" involving schools that aren't necessarily local.
  21. Porter talked about playing home against Cleveland State at the American Outlaws' USA/Chile watch party a few weeks ago. Also, Maryland at home too i've heard. Yes, Caleb said the Zips are home against Cleveland State, Xavier, and Maryland this Spring. He also mentioned 2 games in one day at Ultimate Soccer Arenas (nice place) in Pontiac, MI...one of them against the Wolverines...as well as a trip to Xenia, OH.
  22. Thanks Crew8. This is an awesome article, but even more significant is that the recruiting class was announced on GoZips.com this morning, and Major League Soccer (MLSSoccer.com) posted an article this afternoon!
