  1. OOPS Sorry about that. Fixed it.
  2. Too bad Reynolds isn't coaching at Akron. This is his home town, he went to high school at Hoban. Mabye we can get his brother to coach. He is the track coach at Hoban and was actually the better runner in high school. I think he would do it.
  3. I'm pretty sure that the nutritionist and the chiropractor are not "coaches", which would explain why they were not listed for previous years. I didn't know there even was a speed coach. What does he do, yell at them to run faster?
  4. NC State is a team that I know Akron can win against. Especially if we beat Penn State. I think Getsy, Arthur, and Kennedy will tear apart their defense. Akron's defense is supposed to be the team's strength, and that is saying something with an offense like ours. I just worry about special teams. They could be the deciding factor in our tougher games like NC State.
  5. Without Can't State to muck up things this year, and with our players being their awesome selves, we should plow through the MAC tournament this year, and with a high enough RPI we should get a decent seed in the Dance. The problem is the RPI though. Even if Akron goes undefeated there aren't enough tough opponents to get them above some of the "power' teams with 3 or 4 losses.
  6. If the day after thanksgiving is anything like last year's frozen turkey bowl, we will be lucky to get 7,000 in attendance unless the Zips are undefeated or only have 1 loss (both of which I feel are possible this year)
  7. Good thing I can't golf. There is no way I could be able to attend both events without falling asleep on the road somewhere.
  8. I don't think this year will be as bad as last year. Returning champions should have higher attendance. I wonder how the shedule will affect attendance, though. Too many home games are late in the year, and if it is cold outside the RB will be more empty than it should be. We all have to hope for a warm fall and winter. Does the championship count as a home game for one of the teams? What about a bowl game?
  9. Yep. Its now The OSU. They made the name change official sometime last year to include the word The do differentiate it from Ohio U. It is mostly used by OSU wannabes, fake fans, and ESPN. It basically confirms the "Holier than thou" attitude non OSU fans face when they talk about any college other than tOSU. It drives me nuts when they make it seem like a crime to be from the state of Ohio and be a fan, or even get excited about, another college even if you attend that college.
  10. I heard it too. Its the first U of A radio ad i've heard in a while. I agree that it was very informative, but what was up with that Fear the Roo thing? It could've been much better than that. I wonder why I havn't heard this commercial on WZIP yet. It would be free advertising.
  11. I had just heard about this on Wikipedia. Akron has a rivalry with Youngstown State where we play for the Steel Wheel. I am only 18 and don't remember anything about playing Youngstown State in any kind of rivalry. Was it before Akron was a DI school?
  12. I hope Hakes gets redshirted this year, otherwise all of our backup QBs will be from the same class and it could be a mess this time next year.
  13. The Can't State University? :screwks:Oh yeah... Welcome to the Zipsnation, zipsman18!
  14. Awesome! Where do I get one of those?
  15. If we can get more recievers ready in time for Penn St. we will really be able to take it to them. They may have Pozluzney(?), but he can't do everything for their defense. Man, I just cant wait until September 2nd.
  16. Saw that same article in the Canton Rep. about a week and a half earlier. Too bad the Urinal won't run an actual article about it. Oh, and congrats to Kiki.
  17. GoZips... :bow:You are my hero.If they respond to you, please put their (most likely) lame excuse for a response up on the site. Sometimes they write back. Hopefully your letter will get put on the editorials page so there will be hundreds of responses sent in to the Wreakin' Urinal. Some might be good, but most will be filled with the ignorant fanboyism that plagues this city and its newspaper. I can't wait to see what they think of it.You---> <---Wreakin' UrinalOh yeah...
  18. Next year we will have a real QB battle on our hands with Jacquemain, Jackson, Hakes, and whoever we end up recruiting. Hopefully we can continue the recent tradition of having SuperQBs in the future.
  19. This thing is growing fast! almost to 200 members on Facebook, and about half of them are student-athletes attending Akron. Hopefully some of them will join this website and then we can talk about their games and such. Ooo, and just wait 'till school starts, and the sports get into gear.

    Roo Zoo

There is no way the "Roo Zoo" will be the new name of the AK-Rowdies. Most of the students don't even know about the change, and I doubt they will accept it. I don't care what they call the area we sit in. The students will still be AK-Rowdy, and to be honest I think Roo Zoo sounds better than the Student Section.
  21. At least the Canton Repository cares about the Zips. Here is their University of Akron Report.AZipsCrazy, media day was fun, but relatively unorganized. At first, all of the football players were sitting at a long table giving out autographs. After a while, they got up and started wandering around, occasionally stopping to talk to people. Around 6:00, everyone sat down and J.D. talked about the upcoming season, but I couldn't hear what he said because all of the speakers were pointed away from the crowd. When he was finished, the players mostly sat down on the field and watched a highlite reel of last season that was playing on a huge screen, and nobody seemed to know what anybody was supposed to doing. Then there was a buffet-style banquet for those who paid for a meal. That's when I left. Sorry if it sounded boring, but the event could have been a bit more exciting and organized. Still, talking to the players was pretty cool.
  22. Last night, I went to the Football Media Day, and it was fun. I talked to the players, cheerleaders , and the fans. I left, thinking that the next day I would be able to read about what other people thought in the Beacon Journal, or some other semi-local newspaper. But alas! Nothing to be found. Not even a paragraph or a blurb aknowledging that there even WAS a media day. Something is wrong when Maurice Clarett's lawyer gets more coverage in an Akron newspaper than the University of Akron Football Team.
  23. I hadn't heard about the injury when I made that last post. I did not see Blue & Gold's post when I wrote it. So... sorry about that. In that case, true freshman Aaris Reed will most likely be the back up, though I hope Allen has a speedy recovery.
