While that's true, they played as well as they could have in the first half and failed to get it done.  The program is still thin.  Boals will make them a legitimate contender in 2 years.  Saul Phillips was a $500,000/year disaster.

They definitely will be good with 4 of the starters freshmen and sophomores.  I am wondering if any of the sophomores leave for bigger opportunities since they weren’t recruited by Boals?  If they stay watch out. I think Preston will be a professional and could get an NBA look when the time comes.

Tyler suspended a game for bumping ref, as I expected-

Looks like UA may have made a preemptive strike, suspending him before the MAC did and the MAC went along with their action.

I think Tyler made a mistake and this isn’t reflective of his true character.  I got to talk to him at the ice cream social before the season and came away very impressed with how articulate he was and seemed very genuine in his conversations.

I would like to see X drive the lane more often. At six foot eight, in the MAC, he can do some damage in the paint. And if fouled, he hits hit ft’s at a solid clip. Settling for long 3’s is selling himself short.

Once a few bunnies fall, maybe the hoop starts looking a little bigger from 21 feet.

Drive the lane and then not fade away!  I know he was hitting the fade early in the year but now not so much.

Just spitballing here, but Ali Ali is a legit 6'8" & he looks to me like he could put on some muscle over the next 2 years.

Do you guys think he could move to a power forward/stretch 4 position?

If so, we could look something like this going into next season:

    PG: LCJ   Tribble    Clarke

    W:  Trimble  Dawson

    W:  Dailey  Edwards

    P:  Reece  Ali

    P: Currie  Sayles

Ali has been spelling X this year at the 4 so I say yes he will play some 4.

  6. I think we need at least 1 big that can play next year (depending on other turnover).  Currie can play the 5 if needed but would be nice to have a defensive presence when needed.  Going off of the past I would expect 1 transfer that has to sit a year, which can be good as they have a year to acclimate to the team and program.

While we're on the subject of putting butts in the seats, if anyone has had any remote connection to high school bands you know that their parents are some of the most loyal and will go to Timbuktu to watch their kids march in band shows and or halftime shows.  Those of us that remember the Acme-Zip games knows that their were hundreds of kids from various marching bands performing, and that in turn brought in lots of relatives/parents.  So, every season, we have something called "Band Day" at one of the Zips games, and the bands end up being from an APS school with maybe 30 kids in it, local rural schools with bands not much bigger.  So who's in charge of recruiting these bands to perform at InfoCision?  How come we can't get Stow, Hudson, Wadsworth, Green, Medina, etc.  to attend and perform?  I think Hudson has 200 kids in their band, Stow probably the same.  Is it our Director of Bands Galen Karriker?  I say, fire him now!  😉  Is it our crackerjack marketing department?  I think we should demand Karriker step down if he can't bring in 300 kids next year on band day!  (Bored - felt like writing - but still!)  😊

And none of the band kids are 6’11”!  We need at least 2 6’11” on the drum line to be competitive!

Our OL looked much improved.  I really liked what I saw out of Xavior Gray at LT.  He'll retain his redshirt and he looks like he'll be a four year starter.  X was the missing element.  With X at LT, we were able to move Trevor Brown to RT and shore up the right side of the line, which had been the problem all season long.

Peter Hayes-Patrick finally saw considerable game action.  I thought he looked pretty good.  A few times he zigged when he should have zagged and missed some running lanes, but of course it's easier to see that when you have more of a bird's eye view.

Someone lamented that we don't have a big back like EMU's tank.  Well, let's keep our fingers crossed that we don't lose the commitment of DeAndre Bulley (6-1, 220).  He's tearing up Michigan high school football right now & if we sign him we certainly will.  But Hayes-Patrick is a pretty big back himself, coming in at 6-0, 210.

It was pretty thrilling see Timothy Scippio with the long TD catch.  He's a hard worker who always seems to stay positive, so it's great to see him have a highlight like that.

Jeremiah Knight continues to impress.  I like Julian Hicks.  We were ridiculously deep at WR to begin the season.  But the game is won and lost on the line of scrimmage.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief that Davon'te Jest is okay.  (Last night on twitter he indicated that he is.)

I also was impressed with Gray on the couple plays I focused on him.
