Recruiting Service "Stars" - Do they matter?
Dr Z replied to 94zipgrad's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I wouldn't categorize myself as a "stars don't matter" fan, more like "as an Akron fan, I don't care about stars." I remember attending a Lee Owens presser, where he was telling us how highly rated Thomas Plummer was. I can't remember how many stars he had, more than Chase Blackburn that same year. After this happened over, and over, and over again in Akron classes, I stopped paying attention to stars. I'll trust that coach Moorhead knows the best type of player that can win at Akron, regardless of stars. -
2021 - Former Zips in College - Where are they now
Dr Z replied to zippyfan34's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Where is that old poll about how many NCAA tournament games KD would win after he left Akron? Where are they now? Jawanza continued to ascend after that senior season. -
Arth held a clipboard for Manning. Pretty sure Arth and McDaniels played at John Carroll.

I added your info to the first post in the thread.

I heard him say the that too, and wondered....anything? 🧐

My intent to add to an old JT thread, and observe that Jason Taylor Coaching at St. Thomas Aquinas has taken an odd turn for a nice guy with a new staff at Akron. My apologies to most ZN members. 🙁

Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach

Grading all the new coaching hires -
I would imagine it's fun for a kid to get offers, and photoshop yourself in a new uniform, and post for all your friends to see. Professionally, I think he should listen to what coach Moorhead is offering.

Press Conference Introducing Coach Moorhead (Thursday 10 am)

@Blue & Gold, I was about to type the same (above). Thanks. Thanks to @Section210Zipand @mes102for linking the audio. I forwarded to some alumni that haven't been to a game since Bowden. Favorite quote "I've been here when we have won the MAC, so I know what it takes" -

Last time we played Kentucky, it was at Kentucky in 2010. One of my favorite away trips. First time I read this!...."Kentucky star Randall Cobb caught five passes for 43 yards and a touchdown but spent the second half on the sidelines with heartburn symptoms." He was at the shrimp boil tailgate party we attended after the game!?!? I swear he was eating.

Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach
Dr Z replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
Thanks for posting a recap. I hope the community starts to support. I LOVE the way (enthusiastic and often) coach Moorhead says "Go Zips!" I need to isolate that sound bite, and make it my ringtone for certain Zip fans. 🙂 -
I'll agree to disagree.

I have watched enough crummy teams at the Info. Now that Moorhead is here, I'm happy Kentucky is coming. Something for Zip fans to get excited about for once. Kentucky will bring a good amount of fans to the game. Back in 2010 when we went to the Kentucky game, we had a blast with their fans! Tailgating for Kentucky will be a good atmosphere. Tailgating for some FCS BS team is a borefest. Been there, done that. I remember Lot 9 for Indiana, awesome, I would expect the same for Kentucky. But that's all I care to remember about that day.
