  1. As the season started many wondered if Luke could fill, or even come close to filling Charlie's shoes. He was up against a lot, new offensive line, new receivers and he had to prove he could shake off the rust from sitting. Well the regular season has come to an end and I think it's time to look at a comparison. I think only the Thanksgiving day winds kept Luke from getting those 37 yards he needed to pass Frye's passing yards. Two more games Luke !
  2. I don't see them finishing with any more than 6 wins. I think they HAVE to start Frye at least two games before the end of the season. They have to see what they think they have in him. I'm sure Romeo would like to start him later rather than sooner though (@ OAK). They are 35 mill under the salary cap at the end of this year, so if Frye doesn't perform, or at least show the potential to perform, look for them to go QB hunting again in the FA market.
  3. Wednesday, November 30, 2005 1:00 p.m Tony Grossi Plain Dealer Reporter The long-anticipated debut of Charlie Frye as Browns starting quarterback might happen on Sunday. Coach Romeo Crennel said tendinitis in Trent Dilfer's right knee would keep him out of Wednesday's practice, enabling Frye to take all the repetitions with the first team. Crennel said it's possible Dilfer could still make the start if he gets back on the field by Friday. Dilfer said he would do all he could to prepare to play, but he indicated the knee hurts worse than from tendinitis. Frye said he is looking forward to working through the week for his first start. He played only one snap in the loss in Minnesota and was removed after an interception. source
  4. Nice post DA. BTW, to the fans that took the time to spell out "Go Zips" & "Mac East Champs" in the snow on Thursday: PS A part of this can be seen in the photo of the Andys above.
  5. Don't get mad, get rich, click on football on the left hand side of the page? You can get $5.25 for ever $1 bet. Bet 10, get 52.50, Bet 20, get 105 and so on... Best investment opportunity of your life if you think the Zips will win.
  6. If your lucky, you might get on channel 27's news if there is a drive by also.
  7. I hope so. Owens went to ZERO mac championship games in how many years? JD got there in how many? I'm glad he is doing well at Ashland. I'm glad JD is here.
  8. If we win, we derserve to go to a bowl game, If we don't win, we do NOT deserve to be in a bowl game. That would be exactly what we get for losing to Army. Beat NIU AGAIN and don't worry about it. Zips D Wolfe
  9. 8k in attendance is a huge success? Getting your game downgraded to ESPNU a huge success. Yeah it's great you got some exposure but I doubt anyone watched the game Thursday morning. I have to agree with the crowd. I was suprised to see so many fans brave that weather. You would have to be there to understand. Watching the highlights on ESPN did NOT do it justice. Did anyone else notice we made the top ten? Between the weather and the crappy opponent I would say it was a success. I know one thing, it will be a lot warmer at Ford Field
  10. don't waste your time clicking on this, this is all it says. My favorite line is "Akron plays pretty well in the Rubber Bowl" Oooooooooo Can't is a terrible team this season who has won zero games against D-IA competition this year. Akron is not a great team either, but they play pretty well in the Rubber Bowl. I doubt that Can't will have what it takes to win this one, despite the rivalry between the two. I like the Zips at home in this one. Akron 28, Can't 10
  11. About time that Wolfe (204 yards and counting) pulls a hammy, nothing too serious, to be ready, say about Dec 2.
  12. Follow along with Gamecast, for those of you that can't see it on TV
  13. That would make us 6-6, my guess is no. I think they have to take the winner of the Mac championship game, but not the loser. They could take BG at 6-5.
  14. Wolfe Riley NIU favored by 9.5, if you bet WM straight up, you can get 4:1 odds right now
  15. There is no way that Yenzer beats Jacobs tonight. However, our Yenzer WILL beat K-ent on Turkey Day. Gradkowski (4 TDs) Jacobs (3 TDs)

I like this stat from that link: The cumulative numbers don’t bear it out, however, the Zip D has played very well for the past month. They’re allowing just 15 points a game over the last four and the pass defense has given up just three touchdowns, a stark reversal from the first half of the season.
  17. ESPN2 7:00PM (EST) Gradkowski Jacobs
  18. BG favored by 6.5 tonight.
  19. That was not the Charlie I remember from Akron out there on Sunday!?! 31.6 for your debut, and it could have been worse with another pick And Romeo created some descension in the ranks: Dilfer stepped over the company line after the game when he pointedly came out against the rotation system. "I disagree with it," he said. "I came here to give this franchise everything I have, and nothing's going to change that. But I'm not going to say I agree with it. When you take a guy's rhythm away, it makes his job much harder."
  20. So this dude is wrong? I thought those big red letters were pretty convincing. PS I think Zipsnation was the first place that the proper scenario was posted on the entire web? Am I wrong?
  21. So the Miami / OU game has ZERO effect on us. Here is the link
  22. Did anybody listen to Zips Live last night? Did they address this?
  23. It sounds like anybody that has talked to somebody involved at Akron has the same story: beat K-ent, Toledo victory over BG and we are in.
