  1. Can't is our rival. I will always hate them. They will always suck. I will never have one ounce of respect for them. I will never refrain from expressing my opinion of them. Ask anyone from Alabama, Michigan, Texas, USC, Toledo, or Miami if indifference is the best insult in regard to Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, BGSU, and Ohio. And vice-versa. You just don't get it. I see the "crAcKRON" and "Screw the Roo" t-shirts and comments made by them. I have experienced their air of superiority. Believe me, that is more insulting to me than if they were indifferent. Indifference could only weaken the rivalry. The cracks they make about Akron don't have a backfire effect on them. We get no boost from the derision they pile on us. I believe we are extremely lucky to have a rival. Some programs do not and try their damnedest to cultivate one. NIU doesn't have a rival and some of their fans have been trying to goad Toledo into being their rivals. Toledo fans aren't interested. They know who they hate. So do I. They got you!
  2. The JAR is tiny steps forward from Memorial Hall. We are not impressed. You never are....i'm sure you wish we had a palace like the MAC Center so we could have our view obstructed a little more. That's so big time. You don't know what you are talking about. I am impressed with InfoCision and more. That I expect UA to act like the big boys they should be seems to piss you off. That remains your problem. No, UA's biggest problem is the same old people who continue to imagine that this school is some crappy commuter school when it's far better than that. You wonder why 9 out of 10 people on ZN.o take offense to the ridiculous things you say? It's because you push that stigma that doesn't exist and are the main reason we have a problem shaking it. Again, sorry Akron doesn't have a "beautiful jewel" in the middle of its campus like the MAC Center where 25% of fans attending miss half the game due to obstructed views. Do you drop acid on a daily or weekly basis? Your come-back is absurd and has nothing to do with anything I have ever said. I'm not impressed with Rhodes Gym. That is all I said. Your compulsion to fill in blanks that are not there is a sign of your crazieness. Nice try...you can twist things around all you want. All people have to do is read the BS you post on here and know who is the one "dropping acid". Oh stop it. You'll give yourself a nose bleed. There are many who are not impressed with Rhodes Gym and you know it. Try to be honest when you argue for a change.
  3. I can actually see where you are coming from. It could be interpreted as an admission of jealousy. Fortunately, that isn't the case. I mean it wholeheartedly. Everything about Can't sucks. Their students, president, campus, and most all, their football team. Your point is still taken. On the flip side, Can't's indifference has less to with superiority than it does pure apathy. Their most popular majors are fashion design and other artsy fartsy BS. The students at Can't State will never care about football. It just isn't in their culture. That's why there isn't a Can't-Rowdies. That's why there is no "flushnation.org", just some crappy site hosted(and paid for) by the NCAAbbs people. With the fan base we have already(a good number of people followed to watch the zips in the 2005 MC Bowl) then imagine how the culture will grow as the on campus community grows. On campus housing has doubled since 2000. In that time frame we have seen the emergence of devoted student(and alumni) support that's never been witnessed before in Akron. Someone tell me how the MAC basketball championship would have looked ten years ago? Akron wouldn't be there and you can bet that if they somehow made it to Saturday then you would see half the support you saw this winter. Most of the flush fans on NCAAbbs dismiss Akron as a commuter school with no residential culture. That just isn't true. Proenza has expressed plans to build room for as much as 4000-5000 students on campus. This would put Akron on par with just about anyone in the MAC. it would also make us the largest school in the MAC by a long shot(when you combine that with the non-residential pop, obviously). I'm excited for the future, and the rest of zips nation should be as well. Let's win some games, support the team and the 'marketing' will work itself out. I hear your excitment. It's contagious as it should be. You make some very good points especially the one about Can't's school of fashion design. That's too funny. I totally agree with your comment about more on-campus living. I for one also count students who live just off campus in non-UA housing but still in the neighborhood. No way should they be considered commuters. I truly believe that when we see more on campus student residents, the more students we will see at the games.
  4. If UA wants to continue its success and increase enrollment and build a successful athletic program, it needs to make changes and additions that makes other universities jealous. Jealousy is an excellent marketing tool and UA needs to use it. One of the best ways to capitalize on the jealousy factor is to build a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose basketball arena on the actual UA campus near the stadium and not in downtown Akron. UA is here to build up the region and not the mayor's fat-ass ego. Also, let go of the "Can't sucks" mentality. It has a backfire effect. We should have the attitude that we couldn't care less about Can't. If I were to see "Univ of Akron Sucks" signs from Can't State, I would think that we have arrived. Indifference is the best insult. Can't Sucks is promoting Can't even if he doesn't realize it.

  6. Yea right, they said the same thing about E.J. Thomas Hall and that was one of the biggest pigs-in-a-poke UA ever tried to sell. Ain't buying today, sorry!
  7. Actually this IS a pretty big deal. Read the facts before complaining for once. Actually, this is not a pretty big deal. I have read the facts. You need to as well before peeing all over yourself for once.
  8. I like it! It should air at next year's super bowl!

  10. bridges mean very little in the big scheme of things. Akron in general and the university need to stop making a big deal over something that adds little to a campus and community. this is another shell game
  11. This is truly a sad day for me because I find myself actually agreeing more than disagreeing with Jake. Dom was a guy that I disagreed with strongly as he ran the university. I have a nice note From him telling me off (after I tolkd him he was blowing it with the drawing for the JAR. I think you have to separate the man from the president. The man was a good person whose company I enjoyed. The president was not up to the task and it became apparent the board of trustees had to get him out of there. While the JAR is an example of a failure of leadership and not listening to others, I'm content to remember him as a guy who tried his best. He loved Akron. I'll leave it at that. well said. i agree. not everything is black and white
  12. Practice what you preach. already do...and don't need a lecture by the like of you
  13. But except for his being so completely awful, he was truly lovable! This one belongs in the Hall of Something... Another Jake original. No one other than you called him completely awful. Why is it that you feel that he was? You are something else for saying such a terrible thing.
  14. Wow... You are something else. Thanks. I think I am something else too!
  15. Blow it out your ass. I'm sorry that Dom died, but he lived a good long life and he was an albatrose around the neck of The University of Akron. Now, let us stop being the drama queen!
