  1. Josh Couch (greyshirt punter ) was just cleared on Tuesday. Should see him do alot of kicking and punting next week
  2. Josh Couch (Punter) is on campus and trying to get medical clearance from a groin injury. Heard he'll be ready for spring practice.
  3. www.fbschedule.com is usually updated as early as any site i've seen
  4. I know i'm new to the whole akron experience, but i am really getting ill with all the negativity on this site. I for one am extremely excited about the upcoming season. I think RI has done a great job putting his staff together and can not wait to see the talent that he will bring into the program.
  5. In 1984 I went away to college to play football at a small school. Just a week into training camp I had to call my dad cause a coach had grabed me by my facemask and was yelling at me for blowing an assignment. My dad asked me if i was hurt, NO> asked if i missed the assignment,YES> He told me to show up early for practice the next morning and tell the coach that it wouldn't happen again. There are completely to many helicopter parents in sports today. You see them at football practice, basketball practice and baseball fields, and i'm talking about high school and some colleges. Football coaches are crazy. That's why they coach it. As long as they are not being physically abused or emotionally scar'd the parents should shut up and let the coaches do their job while the institution pays their way.
  6. Was he a scholarship player? Exactly who are the scholarship players on the roster and how many are left for RI to use?
  7. Does anyone know if they are planning on a special teams coordinater?
  8. You have never been so wrong. If you don't play the big boys how do you ever find out if you can beat the big boys
  9. Hopefully we can get the same early specials that we got last year
  10. was suppopsed to first game next year but was dropped prior to the start of last season
  11. 2010 @ Indiana and Kentucky, Syracuse at home. 2011 @ Ohio State and Cincinnati, so first couple of years non-confence is pretty much set. Might be able to mix a sub team in 2011, but will be at least 2012 til they can change things up.
  12. More players are ready to play right out of high school than most coaches give them credit for. Harder for lineman and maybe QB's, but if you were recruited at the D1 level then you should be ready to play if you are needed to. Most all the kids on Akrons roster were recruited by schools other than Akron. The talent is there. I met Ianello 2 years ago in the recruiting process for my son. If he only stays for 3 or 4 years we will be better off for it. We want a winning program year in and year out. If we have that, there are those schools who will want our coach. If he leaves for a better oppurtunity, then there will be someone who wants to come to Akron for a better oppurtunity, and trust me he will leave. Thats what great coaches do. They create winning programs then move on to bigger and better things. Thats what I have done in my career, better job, better money, I'm gone. As long as we are a MAC school that is just the nature of the beast. Lets take what we have right now and run with it. If Akron become a power in the MAC then everyone can complain about the Coach leaving for a bigger and better school.
  13. To play Devil's Advocate, Brian Kelly certainly made the jump from D-II to the big time. Just look at how Cincy played today.Personally, I think that Akron needs to be very careful with this move. There are a lot of good things going for the Zips right now. A bad hire here could put UA back for years. My case in point, Notre Dame.Kelly was in a situation at GVS where he had to manage scholarships and go get talent. Kehres just shows up for work and talent falls in his lap.Akron needs to hire a good coach because they need to win. Akron can win in the MAC next year. Notre Dame isn't losing because they haven't hired the right coaches. ND loses because they put so many barriers up between them and winning that they don't win. ND is just another midwest school that kids no longer want to go to. Look at the best teams in college football, they are all in warm weather states. Save me the Cincy argument, they would not win another BCS conference other than the BE. ND is a relic of the past and unless it changes it will continue to be that forever.Dumbest comment i have ever heard anyone make. Notre Dame could have won 10 games easily this year with a break here and there. Florida got lucky twice this year. Alabama got lucky twice this year. Texas was beat three times. A great coach makes a difference in the tough games. Notre Dame will hire a great college coach., and if not they will still have the highest graduation rate and kids will be lined up to play there. As far as Cincy, you must be a closet OSU fan who can't stand that you are not the best college team in ohio.
  14. Going to go to Akron or Cincinnati, or a smaller D1 school then transfering
