  1. Looking at the rankings....the soccer coaches think that Akron will be the 3rd best team in the Big East 4 big east teams listed among the 37 teams receiving votes Creighton is highest ranked big east team at 8 Georgetown is 17 Akron is 22 Providence received votes (30th in rankings) As usual, ACC teams are quite prevalent in the rankings 1. Syracuse 4. Duke 5. Pittsburgh 9. Clemson 15. Virginia 18. Wake Forest 34. Louisville Notre Dame is an ACC team and they come to Akron for a match. Irish not ranked by the soccer coaches. Where are the North Carolina Tar Heels? UNC-Greensboro is ranked #10 preseason and the mighty tar heels are no where to be found. Once again, the Hoosiers are expected to rule the Big Ten 2. Indiana 14. Maryland 32. Rutgers 35. that team from Columbus....that puts a "The" in front of university name PAC 12 6. Washington 7. Stanford 26. UCLA 36. Oregon State Looking at the zips schedule...for ranked opponents 2nd regular season match in Akron ....will be gigantic #12 Vermont comes to town on August 28 #21 FIU visits Akron on September 11 Providence (receiving votes ) visits Akron on September 15 at #8 Creighton on October 18 Big Green, good luck to Marshall during the coming season. 2. Thank you very much for posting. I had not seen the poll.
  3. the 9 recruits are not shown right now on the 2023 roster https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/2023 Here is what I see.......from roster currently shown (22 players) GK - 4 1. Mitch Budler 2. Seth Wilson 3. Gavin Hill 4. Matthew Evans Defense - 6 1. Jonas Buechte 2. Will Jackson (roster shows him as forward....but we all know that he will be at CB) 3. Joel Sangwa 4. Ashton Kamdem 5. Malik Henry (roster shows him as MF/F...he played right back last 2 years) 6. Carter Cormier Midfield - 9 1. Sam Tojaga 2. Josh Hallenberger 3. Alejandro Varela 4. Rui Reis 5. Gyuwon Chong 6. Josef Paulus 7. Johnny Fitzgerald 8. Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal 9. Jackson Herbert Forward - 3 1. Jason Shokalook 2. Stefan Dobrijevic 3. Dyson Clapier (roster shows him as midfielder).....if zips play a 4-5-1....then a midfielder makes sense for Dice let's add in the 9 recruits by position Defense - 2 1. Joshua Hardin - fullback 2. Daragh Reilly - left CB or left DB Midfield -5 1. Caleb Borneo 2. Matt Dreas 3. Daniel Firek 4. Ryan Kopay 5. Marlon Fries Forward -2 1. Nathan Ferguson 2. Alen Kapic (even though they show his name as Alex in first part of release. Jared knows his name...unfortunately, the SID for mens soccer does not) SID also shows his name as ALEX later in release, Alen Kapic deserves better .....his name needs to be spelled correctly in the news If I go to the 2022 roster and look for players with eligibility (not shown on 2023 roster)....here is what I find... 1. Mani Diop - transfer to Washington 2. Ryan Kingsford - transfer to Loyola Marymount 3. Grant McIntosh - transfer to Duquesne 4. Levi Stephens - transfer to George Mason 5. Sam Harter 6. Maruki Kawahara - transfer to Nebraska Omaha 7. Connor Lee 8. Terence Okoeguale - transfer to San Diego State 9. Santiago Frias - transfer to Albany I have been typing this as I try to watch the Guardians game.....Hopefully, this is 99.8% accurate.
  4. this young man...is not listed among the new players I posted this in November 2022 Columbus Crew forward Josh Bartels will attend Akron in fall 2023 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=26&articleId=51535&articleTitle=commitments:-a-crew-forward-chooses “I decided to commit to Akron because of the environment surrounding the great style of play, from the way the team bonded, to the quality of play on the field,” Bartels told TopDrawersoccer. “It felt like somewhere I wanted to truly be.” “I specifically liked the traditions that the team held, the goals they set for themselves, the pre-game talks,” he said. “It was all for the better of the group rather than the individual.”
  5. Top Drawer Soccer says that the Zips have added a new recruit for 2024 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/sima-recruiting-roundup:-july-24-30_aid52277 M Jack Roman (Cleveland Force FC) committed to Akron. On July 4, Top Drawer soccer included Jack Roman on their top 11 team from the ECNL playoffs M Jack Roman, Cleveland Force 06 – After Cleveland lost the group opener against MVLA, the team rallied with back-to-back wins to capture first place. Roman is a hard worker in the midfield, who connected play well. He added a goal-scoring punch from the midfield as well.
  6. this article was included today in the University of Akron Business School newsletter... 3.76 GPA....very impressive achievement by Adam Najem https://www.uakron.edu/im/news/soccer-player-adam-najem-achieves-goal-of-professional-career-and-ua-degree?bbeml=tp-UMe-qg1RCU-VaHO2Nu8s5A.jc_YR_ODVZEubG0aKPF2PhQ.rMmPadoRJLk2MO1FsYlmiEg.lch0oziArrEun35RV7EIjZA
  7. Richie Laryea.....got absolutely hosed....as he was not selected to the MLS All Star team Richie Laryea deserves to be on the MLS All Star team 5 times this year, Richie has been selected to the MLS team of the week Richie is one of the best 25 soccer players in MLS https://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star/2023/news/2023-mls-all-star-team-roster
  8. @Zip_ME87 thank you for the clarification. Boyds, Maryland makes much more sense. It is outside Washington DC (where Georgetown in located), Glen Arm, Maryland is 1 hour and 28 minutes away from Boyds, MD. Glen Arm is located outside Baltimore (which is not a Big East location). The Semis and finals will be at the Maryland Soccer Plex in Boyds, Maryland. There is a Maryland SportsPlex in Glen Arm, MD.....but it is not a soccer facility. Hopefully, they will soon correct the schedule for the Xavier mistake and correct the city for the Big East Tourney.
  9. I was not familiar with where the Big East semis and finals will be played. Sounds like a nice field....Capacity of 5,000 fans https://mdsoccerplex.org/maryland-soccerplex/championship-stadium/

  11. Richie should be an MLS all star this year.....and should play against some team named Arsenal in Washington DC. If I was an Arsenal fan, I would sure want to See Richie play in person against Arsenal. Hmm...do we know any Arsenal fans?
  12. Richie had an assist in last night's game https://www.torontofc.ca/news/toronto-fc-1-cf-montreal-2-2023-canadian-championship-match-recap

  14. Teal Bunbury with a goal....and a nice dance 😁
  15. really good find, Fknbuflobo...... we are going to have to start calling you.....the recruit finder Kamden is mentioned in this attached article (and yes, I am looking forward to Kamden Held and Ashton Kamden being a dynamic duo for the zips) https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=26&articleId=51827&articleTitle=boys-club-standouts:-february-25-27 Michigan Jaguars 06 MLS NEXT – Oscar Huerta scored twice, helping the Jaguars best Chicago Fire by a 3-2 score. 19. Congratulations to Joshua Bartels and Caleb Borneo for leading the Crew 05 MLS Next team to a commanding win this past weekend Columbus Crew 05/04 MLS NEXT – It was a big day offensively for the Crew’s oldest age group, winning 8-0. Akron commit Joshua Bartels bagged four goals. Brent Adu-Gyamfi, Caleb Borneo and James Lear rounded out the goals.
  20. I know that some great zip soccer fans drove to the "Burgh" to support the zips. I know that these super fans will give us a report. last Saturday, the Riverhounds mauled Penn State 3-0. The Riverhounds were one of the 3-4 clubs in the USL last year. Holding them scoreless is very impressive.
  21. In the Rapids 2 exhibition yesterday, it looks like 2023 zip recruit Joshua Hardin was on the field at the same time as new 2024 recruit Cain Castellon It looks like former zip Dillon Serna is now playing for the Colorado Rapids 2. Dillon, please feel free to send more talented young rapids 2 players to the zips !!!
