  1. I have Spectrum, and the game is showing up on the list of channels guide at 7 p.m. on CBSSNHD. For me, this is channel 322. I have the DVR set to record the game so that I can watch the Zips victory again tomorrow, after I return from the game tonight. Go Zips!!!!
  2. T minus 5 hours until I leave to drive to Akron for a tail gate and then the game. Go Zips!!!!
  3. I know the Zips are 1-8, but what an apathetic forum of posters regarding our team just over 48 hours away from the final home game versus EMU. Let's show some excitement and enthusiasm here and hope that the team will do the same. I know it will be a tough game, but we must keep up hope for at least one more win. Go Zips!!!
  4. Watched a chunk of the 2nd half of OU vs. Buffalo. I now have some hopes Akron can beat Buffalo.
  5. Not an Arth fan. But at this point in each of the last two seasons, his team beat an FBS opponent. Moorhead cannot say the same this year. Go Zips!!!
  6. In the NFL you build a team through the draft and supplement it with free agents. In College football, you build a team with HS recruits and supplement with the portal. Last year, Akron signed 20+ players through the portal and we cannot beat a FBS team. My guess is that Joe will shed some more players and sign more than 10 through the portal, if the rules allow. I am concerned that the process being used is not sustainable. Go Zips!!!
  7. Thank you for repeating my post above.
  8. Mistakes will kill you. Look at: -Turnovers -Sacks -Penalties This tells me the whole scary story!
  9. Boy was I wrong!!! The receiving corps did get open a lot and contributed to the QB's high completion yards, and Bubba and Durant played well on defense. The common thread for me is the mistakes made by Irons in these games. I also think the penalties by Undercuffler were awful, but at least it showed he had a spark. That appeared to be missing by the entire Akron team the whole game. Coach JoeMo brought in more than 20 transfers and he still cannot win a FBS game. After sitting through the game, I am beginning to think that Arth is continuing to coach the team.
  10. I think there are three points to make regarding this post: 1. First, I check out the forums of the teams Akron football plays as well as the Browns and Indians sites, and I think that this forum is the best. Kudos to whoever owns and runs this forum. 2. I agree that the decline in participation is the result of the poor winning record of the Zips, but that may not be the only factor. 3. I also think the decline is contributed to the very poor posts on this site. I am not going to call posters out at this point who do not post facts but post BS, and I will hold that for the future. Very few people post factual comments, and the majority of the statements that receive media comments are ones that have received smart aleck comments. I think the posters need to improve their statements. Go Zips!!!
  11. I am changing my tune from past posts and I believe that the Zips will beat Miami-Oh this Saturday. After studying the teams, I think that the WR's and TE's for Akron will be the key to the game and make Irons look good again. I believe Akron's offense will overcome Miami's Defense and Miami will not have enough offense to overcome Akron. Changing my comments and plan on attending again this Saturday. Looking forward to another tail gate. I cannot stay away from my beloved alma mater. Go Zips!!!
  12. Thank you for supporting my position. Go Zips!!!
  13. catdaddyp is an excellent poster with great facts. I am not a glass half full or glass half empty person. I believe that you have the wrong size glass. If you do not understand this concept, then you are an Akron graduate with a Liberal Arts degree Go Zips!!!!
  14. I am with you that I am a huge Zips and Browns fan. There is one commonality between the two teams: they each have a bum Quarterback.
  15. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34824508/college-football-bottom-10-where-everybody-winner-least-once It is really sad that we are showing up as #1. I hope this changes Saturday.
  16. First, I am a very frustrated Zips fan. Second, I am not an Arth fan and I agree that Moorhead inherited little talent. But, Bowden left little to no talent for Arth. Moorhead's frosh recruiting class was not that good, but he did hit the portal hard. If I am correct, he got the following from the portal: -3 P5 receivers -1 P5 tight end -2 FBS, (1 P5) offensive linemen -2 P5 RB's -1FCS QB (I may be wrong on the D) -4 FBS DL -3 FBS LB's -3 FBS (1 P5) DB This is a huge infusion of talent that makes me question the coaching staff. Either the talent evaluation is bad, or the coaching is bad. Let's look at the record: 1. OT win to a FCS team 2. 52 points loss to a 3-4 Michigan State team that is not very good 3. 57-point loss to an excellent Tennessee team (who upset Alabama) 4. 9 point loss to Liberty, a good team, but they were playing their 3rd an 4th string QBs against my beloved Zips 5. 3 point loss to Bowling Green, a team that Arth beat twice without all of the transfers 6. 21 point loss to Ohio (we must learn to dominate Ohio MAC schools) 7. 7 point loss to Central Mich. (see below) I am not convinced that Moorhead knows what he is doing. Why does Bubba not play more? He is the heart and soul of this team on defense. But the bigger problem I see is in the QB Irons. I think he would be a very good RB, and he may have some good stats, but he chokes. I watched the CM fumble several times and I am convinced Irons was the issue. I am not sure if a better QB is on the roster, but I am not an Irons fan. I know this comment will get me beat up by several of the long time posters who are in love with Irons but make very funny (ignorant) posts. But with talent influx, you must do better than what has been shown. There has been also a poster that ragged on Paul McDonald, the dad of the BGSU QB who beat my beloved Zips. When I got home Saturday, I had one of the donation requests that I have made for 25+ years, and I tore it up. I find it unlikely that I will attend any more home games, I do not like driving 120 minutes for these results. The sad thing is that I started my season tickets in the 80s, and I am so frustrated and have no idea if I will continue into the future. In Coach JoeMo I have quit trusting until he proves something to me.
  17. Liberty is 6-1 and beat Gardner Webb 21-20 on Saturday. Their only loss is a 1 point loss to Wake Forest.
  18. Got home from the game a couple of hours ago. Still calming down so I want to wait until tomorrow (maybe) to comment. Looking at schedules and records, I agree with Lee that this is the last realistic winnable game on the schedule. I originally thought they might win the last game against N. Ill, but I have changed my mind. More tomorrow. Good night.
  19. https://coloradobuffaloeswire.usatoday.com/lists/ranking-worst-teams-college-football-cbs-sports/?itm_source=parsely-api Akron is ranked #5.
  20. Easy answer on the thought process. Most new (college and NFL) football coaches come into a program and say that all of the previous team is bad (a lot of truth in Akron's case). They want to replace everyone on the team. There are always some casualties, and Bubba is one. Look at all of the (P5) transfer brought in that get preferred PT, and the results are awful. Bubba is/has been the heart and soul of the D. He deserves better. Go Zips!!!
  21. I saw one weather projection early this morning that Hurricane IAN may be entering southern Ohio early Saturday morning. Uncertain of the rate of the storm moving at that time. If it is true that it gets to southern Ohio, we are unsure if it will get to Akron by game time. Let's hope that the game stays dry and a major storm does not occur during game time. Go Zips!!!
  22. Thank you, but I think you missed a key point. If you look at one of my previous posts, McDonald missed last game and is questionable for the Zips game. I believe that his ability to play, and play up to his potential, is key to determine who will win this game. If he cannot play, Zips romp. If he is healthy, the game is a toss-up. Go Zips!!!
  23. i did some research last night and saw that BG's QB McDonald did not play in Game 4 for BGSU. He had a couple of good games in the first three and is the son of former USC and Browns QB Paul McDonald. If he cannot play, that would be a big advantage for the Zips, like Liberty using their 3rd and 4th string QB. I did find a website last night that said that his status for Saturday is now Questionable. Maybe that explains the change to the Line now being BGSU -8.5. His status would be a big factor in the outcome of the game. Go Zips!!!
  24. Overall -Liberty came off of a crushing 1 point loss to a ranked team. Liberty was probably over looking the Zips and down in the dumps. -Liberty was down to their 3rd and 4th string QB. It is sad we could not capitalize on this opportunity. -Coach JoeMo did a great job of play calling. It opened a lot of opportunities for the offense. Offense -Akron's receivers were very good with the exception of a couple of drops -The running game was disappointing. I want to see Norrills much more. -I have been a critic, but I thought Irons played pretty well, except for a few plays -OL played well at times, and poorly at other times Defense -Bubba was great once again -Secondary played pretty well -DL had a lot of good moments ST -We have a very good punter -Field goal kicking needs improvement Go Zips!!!
